I wanted a taller bookshelf to store my books in as I do a LOT of reading and this one looked like it would work. The price is lower than what I've seen on others and I'm not rich, so I took a shot at it hoping that it would be serviceable. I am very pleasantly surprised. First off, it arrived two days earlier than expected and was packed very well with the shelf pieces very well protected. The instructions are mostly diagrams with a small amount of wording, but were easy to follow - didn't run into anything that I didn't understand. By myself it took me about two hours to assemble - others may be a bit faster but I wasn't in a hurry and I've messed up things before and had to redo them. The pieces and hardware fit together well - no issues there. It is a taller shelf so I would definitely recommend using the tipover restraint piece included. The construction seems sturdy and I like the fact that the back pieces fit into grooves (not nailed on as you find in other lower cost shelves) and there are also bracers included to install behind the back pieces - first time I have seen that in shelves in this price range. I bought the black shelves and I love the look. These shelves are perfect for storing my books and I can see where they would look great pretty much anywhere. I actually liked it so much that I bought a second one that was also delivered early and had no issues with that one either. Great looking bookshelf. Easy to assemble and very sturdy. Ordered 2 only one showed up. Other one is still in limbo going on two weeks. Amazon's tracking and delivery details have been strangely off brand so far. We'll see if I have to make a call to Big Tony.

I was hesitant after I ordered this because I read the reviews but once the shelf arrived I set it up and was a surprised at the quality. I will say the back boards that slide in and act as a barrier between the wall and the contents on the shelf are thin but nothing to worry about, I’d say this shelf is holding around 50 pounds of weight at the moment and I could probably still put more onto it. I got the bookcase for my campus dorm it’s very firm, and has a lot of room to hold heavy books. I own over 55 books and it fits all of them and there’s plenty more room to fit TWICE that amount. It came in great condition, the wood is strong and the color is stunning, the alignment is great, there’s no gaps, no wholes it’s literally perfect. I love it! The only thing is the instructions are not the clearest and I thought a piece was missing but as you can see I was wrong. My roommate helped me put it together and it worked out great! ... show more
