I wanted a taller bookshelf to store my books in as I do a LOT of reading and this one looked like it would work. The price is lower than what I've seen on others and I'm not rich, so I took a shot at it hoping that it would be serviceable. I am very pleasantly surprised. First off, it arrived two days earlier than expected and was packed very well with the shelf pieces very well protected. The instructions are mostly diagrams with a small amount of wording, but were easy to follow - didn't run into anything that I didn't understand. By myself it took me about two hours to assemble - others may be a bit faster but I wasn't in a hurry and I've messed up things before and had to redo them. The pieces and hardware fit together well - no issues there. It is a taller shelf so I would definitely recommend using the tipover restraint piece included. The construction seems sturdy and I like the fact that the back pieces fit into grooves (not nailed on as you find in other lower cost shelves) and there are also bracers included to install behind the back pieces - first time I have seen that in shelves in this price range. I bought the black shelves and I love the look. These shelves are perfect for storing my books and I can see where they would look great pretty much anywhere. I actually liked it so much that I bought a second one that was also delivered early and had no issues with that one either. I'm pleased with this bookshelf. The color and size was as stated. Watch the depth, because it only stands one row of books with no wiggle room of putting some in front. I have chosen not to use the bolting-into-the-wall hardware provided due to renting. It stands pretty well with some shims but I would not use it around rambunctious kids. This looks really great and was easy enough to put together, it took my husband about 30 minutes to do it by himself. So far it seems sturdy and it was priced well for the quality. If I find a space to put it I might order another.

I have a lot of books and some of them are quite heavy. I have a variety of bookcases, some of them had their problems with sagging shelves and nylon hooks which break and then we have a real catastrophe! i am making an effort to get books off of the floor in the living room and to the downstairs where no one will really see them. I am not concerned with this bookcase as furniture but for its utilitarian function! So with that: * the instructions are clear and with some care, the bookcase goes together without problems. Make sure you have the right pieces with the right pieces. They are all numbered, so no confusion there. *the bookcase is sturdy and the shelves are short which helps. It holds a lot of books but your bigger heightwise books will not fit. Shelves are equidistant and are 11". *the shelves are fastened with long screws and nylon supports are also included. Those have to be screwed in but I will probably use pieces of wood running the width of the shelves underneath as needed *hardware to fasten the bookcase to the wall is also provided but I substituted a sturdier bracket. I am so pleased that I have purchased another and will probably purchase an additional one or two. ... show more

I ordered three of these for the home office. They were well used there until we moved right after. Now I have 2 in the living room and one in the master bedroom as the new office is too small. It took me about an hour to assemble each one. These are not heavy duty shelves but they are sturdy and hold alot of weight. They are not as deep as some bookcases and I would recommend using the wall anchors,included, for each one, due to their height. As you can see in the pictures I am loading them up with books,it will easily hold the weight of full shelves of books. These are good solid book cases. They look good separately or group closely together. The color is dark and rich. They are light enough when empty to move around. The dimensions are accurate per the advertised description. I tried to show the wood grain pattern in the cases in one of the pictures. I think it's definitely good value for you money. ... show more
