This bookshelf is perfect for what I was looking for, it’s not to bulky but it’s durable enough to hold all of my reading materials and home decor. You can’t tell by looking at it that it was so affordable hahaha. Easy assemble, took me about an hour and an half and I’m 5 months prego and never put things like this together. For the second to last step on the instructions it took me a second to figure out, then I realized the picture in the manual was actually the BACK of the book shelves 😂. The little plastic pieces act as shelf support and you screw them directly into the back on each side of the shelf. There’s a picture on the Amazon add/listing when you scroll down and once I saw that it all made sense. No missing parts, everything was packaged nicely and easy to figure out. All and all this is a perfect bookshelf, the anchors work great making it extra safe from tipping. I wanted a taller bookshelf to store my books in as I do a LOT of reading and this one looked like it would work. The price is lower than what I've seen on others and I'm not rich, so I took a shot at it hoping that it would be serviceable. I am very pleasantly surprised. First off, it arrived two days earlier than expected and was packed very well with the shelf pieces very well protected. The instructions are mostly diagrams with a small amount of wording, but were easy to follow - didn't run into anything that I didn't understand. By myself it took me about two hours to assemble - others may be a bit faster but I wasn't in a hurry and I've messed up things before and had to redo them. The pieces and hardware fit together well - no issues there. It is a taller shelf so I would definitely recommend using the tipover restraint piece included. The construction seems sturdy and I like the fact that the back pieces fit into grooves (not nailed on as you find in other lower cost shelves) and there are also bracers included to install behind the back pieces - first time I have seen that in shelves in this price range. I bought the black shelves and I love the look. These shelves are perfect for storing my books and I can see where they would look great pretty much anywhere. I actually liked it so much that I bought a second one that was also delivered early and had no issues with that one either. I never write reviews, but I thought I would on this to help others out in deciding if this was right for them. I spent a lot of time researching different bookcases on Amazon. I wanted one in my hallway, which has a high ceiling, to store trade paper backs, DVD box sets, magazines, etc. I also wanted white to match the doors and trim and an existing display piece. I assembled this on my kitchen floor on a Saturday and had no issues whatsoever. I put the heaviest books and magazines toward the bottom to help with stability. It comes with a bracket to attach the top to the wall and secure it in place. Unfortunately, my baseboards extend out so I was unable to get mine flush against the wall and utilize the bracket (which is why I'm only giving 4 stars on stability). If your wall will allow you to get it flush then it will have no issues whatsoever with stability. Even without the bracket mine is stable. If someone were to slam into it or hit it with something I might have a problem with things falling off or out. Overall I would say this is great if you just need an affordable, hassle-free bookcase to store extra stuff on. It's certainly not for high end display, but if you just need something to get the job done it's perfect. ... show more

I have a lot of books and some of them are quite heavy. I have a variety of bookcases, some of them had their problems with sagging shelves and nylon hooks which break and then we have a real catastrophe! i am making an effort to get books off of the floor in the living room and to the downstairs where no one will really see them. I am not concerned with this bookcase as furniture but for its utilitarian function! So with that: * the instructions are clear and with some care, the bookcase goes together without problems. Make sure you have the right pieces with the right pieces. They are all numbered, so no confusion there. *the bookcase is sturdy and the shelves are short which helps. It holds a lot of books but your bigger heightwise books will not fit. Shelves are equidistant and are 11". *the shelves are fastened with long screws and nylon supports are also included. Those have to be screwed in but I will probably use pieces of wood running the width of the shelves underneath as needed *hardware to fasten the bookcase to the wall is also provided but I substituted a sturdier bracket. I am so pleased that I have purchased another and will probably purchase an additional one or two. ... show more
