  • The perfect work boot
My husband loves these boots. He says they are the most comfortable work boots he's ever owned. They started out super stiff but broke in really quickly. He's very happy with this purchase and would buy again.

  • Look great. Feel great
Size: 11 Wide Color: Brown
I've always bought higher end boots. These are my first pair of moc toes. I usually go with thorogood. But they have gone up to 300 bucks. These were 150. Figure I would try. They look great out of the box. But to my surprise they are super comfortable right out the box. Soft leather. They feel as if they are already broken in. And there not yet. Only time will tell if they hold up. But for the price. I am very happy. Most comfortable boot I've ever put on right out of the box. And i am on my feet 12 hrs a day. 5 to 7 days a week. These are well worth the price in my opinion. I ordered a half size larger than my normal. Fit was perfect. ... show more

  • Good Work Boots
Size: 12 Color: Brown
Took them out of the box yesterday, put them on my feet, and wore them for 10+ hours. Wore them again all day today, and spent at least half my day on a ladder. Yeah, my feet are a little sore, but no blisters or real problems to speak of, and I’m not even wearing proper boot socks. They look good, too. Got my first compliment at work today. A few thoughts: * The color is darker than I expected. Almost espresso. Nice, but the belt I bought to match... doesn’t. I’ll need to get a new one. * They run large. I wear a 13D in almost every other brand of boot or shoe, but in these, I’m a 12D. * The toe box has plenty of room. I’ve had to return other brands of safety toe boots due to fit problems in the toe, but these are just right. * You can (and should) experiment with lacing patterns to dial in the fit. Google “how to lace boots” for some suggestions if you’re not sure where to start. * The included laces aren’t great; do yourself a favor and spend the extra ten bucks on a nicer set. I went with 45” Honey Badgers and they’re perfect. * They don’t have much arch support. My next upgrade may be a set of insoles. Overall, I’m very impressed with these boots, and my minor complaints aren’t worth losing a star over. I’ve had my eye on a pair of Red Wing moc-toes for years, but I never got over the sticker shock. These are a great alternative for half the price. ... show more

  • Great for shingle roofs
Size: 12 Wide Color: Brown
We did our research and everything we found indicated that Irish Setters were the best boots for working on roofs. My son installs solar panels, and more often than not, that puts him on a roof. What he's found with these is that they are great for shingle roofs, but terrible on a metal roof. They don't provide any traction on metal, so he ended up sliding, which can be a hazard. In every other aspect, he says these are terrific work boots, and he wears them daily unless he's going to be working on a metal roof. The boots are well made and durable, and he says they're comfortable as far as work boots go - a little snug at the toe, but other than that, a good fit. What he ended up with was he wears these most days, but he carries a backup pair for days when they're working on a metal roof. ... show more

Great boots at a great price. Comfortable out of the box. Do yourself a favor

  • After 3 weeks of everyday use.
Size: 9 Color: Brown
These boots run a half size large. I normally wear a 9.5 and I had to send back the 9.5 and get the 9. The Boots are comfy right out of the box if you lace them correctly. Research the best ways to lace these and you’ll be satisfied. At first I had them too loose and they were rubbing my heels. The insoles were too thin for my skinny foot. My toes have plenty of room. I decided to get a thicker insole and have been pleased with how the boot hugs my foot. These boots are great for standing and walking on hard concrete all day. My back and my knees don’t hurt me at all after my 10 hour days. I’ll definitely be buying these again next time! ... show more

  • Most uncomfortable red wing I’ve ever bought.
Size: 11 Color: Brown
These boots feel cheap. I’m a huge redwing fan. Especially of Irish setters. They’re typically the only boots I buy. But these pairs (I bought one in brown and one in black) have left me nothing but aches and pains, I tried to use for a week to see if they just break in rougher but no luck. (Keep in mind I work 50 hours a week in construction). I have blisters on my feet, the toe box is oddly shaped. It feels like I’m wearing a pair of cheap danners. ... show more

  • Be Aware of Size Issue
Size: 10 Color: Brown
As other reviewers have observed, this boot runs large. It's a little confounding why Red Wing doesn't just increase the size designations rather than perpetuate the confusion over this model - i.e. a size 10 would be designated as size 10.5 or 11. I suspect it would address the level of confusion experienced by purchasers and reduce the number of exchanges for a smaller size. The above acknowledged, I prefer to add a thick arch support inside my work boots and wear two layers of heavy socks, so I still purchased my usual size. Ordinarily, I wear a 10 D in most shoes. I still ordered size 10D and that size accommodates my socks and insert just fine. This is a rugged work boot with an aluminum toe and heavy leather construction, so don't expect it to feel like a pair of dockers or your favorite sandals. It definitely has a substantial feel. If you're accustomed to a "large shoe experience," that is a substantial footprint with the need to adopt a deliberate gait as you walk, then you'll probably like this shoe just fine. It serves me well because my feet are well protected and I don't experience a lot of foot fatigue when wearing them for several hours on concrete floors. Admittedly, these boots aren't for everyone. Be aware that they are are over-sized. If you want to wear them with a light pair of socks and no arch support, you may do well to consider ordering a full size smaller than you accustomed to wearing in most other shoes. ... show more
