This chair is SO COMFORTABLE it made up for whatever difficulty I had assembling it! I'm 5'3" and ordered the 9188E Extra Large recliner so that I'd have room to move around in my sleep, but the back section is huge and hard to handle for a short person, I had to try a dozen times to get the back onto the base as I couldn't see over or under the piece to line up the slots to the receiving posts. No matter, I got her assembled, sat in it, and was immediately in heaven! The support is amazing relative to the softness of the cushioning, so the inner springs are doing their job, and that's why I chose to pay $300 to $400 more for this recliner - it was the only one in hundreds I reviewed that showed and told me it had inner springs and could do all this Irene House lift recliner does, like its much pricier cousins (LazyBoy & Barcalounger at $2200+). The lumbar support is wonderful, without the little pillow it comes with, but if you need more, the pillow will probably remedy that. It also came with a surprise no slip pad. Yes, the chair has what feels like a firm, comforting hug and the faux leather it's covered in don't make me sweat - living in FL it's always been an issue unless I was sitting on genuine leather, but a leather lift chair that looks anywhere as contemporary or nice as this Irene House one, listed for $3400, way out of my budget. My only "complaint" is that it moves a bit too slow for me, in that it takes a sec for the back to recline/go upright and/or the leg rest to rise/lower, but I can live with that. The massage feature is very nice, equal to mani/pedi massage chairs or the massage pads you can lay on in bed - don't expect deep tissue work, but it is soothing. I plan on saving $$$ on my electric bill whenever it gets cold here, as that's the only time I'll use the heating feature, but use it I will. The lift feature works great, albeit slowly, though I'm hoping I won't be needing it anytime soon, lol. I just wanted a better night's sleep, didn't want to buy a huge mattress or have to change its sheets; this chair has given me two consecutive nights of great sleep! If you're not in a hurry to buy, check back, I'll update this review in six months (late Oct 2024), but if you want a great chair NOW, order yours today!!! ... show more

I was looking for a solid lift/recliner for a tall person. I’m 6’5” and 250 lbs. and I am physically limited due to back pain. I’m having surgery soon so we had planned ahead for this chair to help with recovery. The chair arrived quickly (a delivery issue happened which caused a delay but not the fault of Amazon or the Company - it was FedEx’s fault) and my wife was able to put it together with the help of the enclosed instructions. I’ve been using it for the last week and it works as advertised. It is comfortable and provides multiple sitting options. I can also see that it would be possible to sleep in the chair if necessary. I gave my review four stars only because it is so new and I need more time to see how it holds up for the long haul. VERY QUIET STEADY OPERATION. SOOOOO EASY TO MOVE ABOUT! I WAS AMAZED AT HOW EASILY IT MOVES. GREAT SUPPORT. ALTHOUGH I AM SMALL, I BOUGHT THE XXL SIZE IN ORDER TO HAVE ROOM FOR A COUPLE PILLOWS AND FOR MY KINDLE READER. NO REGRETS. VERY NICELY FINISHED. HEAVY UNIT WHAT WITH LIFT, 2 MOTORS, HEAT, MASSAGE. ALL OF THEM WORK VERY WELL. I DON'T NEED THE LIFT (YET) BUT I AM 81, SO I MAY YET NEED THAT TO GET UP OUT OF IT. I THINK THE STANDARD SIZE WOULD SUIT MOST PEOPLE, BUT I WANTED MY HEELS TO BE UP ON THE SUPPORT (I HAVE NEUROPATHY) AND NOT HANGING OFF OF IT, AND I DO LIKE THE EXTRA WIDTH FOR KEEPING A BLANKET, 2 PILLOWS, AND MY KINDLE READER NEXT TO ME.     • Big and tall fits me
I'm 6'2', 265lbs. and needed both a chair long enough so that my legs didn't hang over and cut off my foot circulation and dual motors so I could "fine tune" my positions. After reading every single review, I realized that several of the negatives were brought on by customers who bought chairs that were too small for themselves, yet they complained about leg hangover and bottoming out cushions. If you're big and tall spend a few dollars more and get the Big& tall! I spend a lot of time in my chair and am demanding when it comes to quality, convenience and comfort. This chair is the one for me (or even someone taller and heavier). 1) Came in 9 days in 3 boxes and took me about 2 hours to assemble (a helper would've been nice). 2) Black faux leather looks like real leather. Cushions are more than ample for me and very comfortable. 3) Massage (8 levels) and heat functions are very functional from the neck to lower back (none on rump or legs though). There's also a power battery backup in case of power outages. 4) Very good overall quality in every way with a great 1,2 and 3 year warranty on the various components. Finally, the price was within my budget with all of the goodies the $3k-$4k high end chairs have.
