I used a single battery for 3 consecutive days on the ice without recharging. I did get the additional battery, just in case. It punches through 8" of ice in about 6-7 seconds. THIS AUGER CUTS ICE LIKE BUTTER The first time putting it to the ice I was thinking no way is this light weight going to cut this 10 inch hole. I pulled the button it cut through 11 inches of ice so fast and easy all three people in the group looked at me and at same time yelled WOW .
