I bought this to help maintain the dust and debris during a fireplace cleanup. I had already removed the bulk of the ash so the vacuum was mostly used for the creosote and soot residues from sweeping the chimney out. It is easy to assemble and use, offers essential tips (2) and has very effective filtration. It performs really well although the filter flow indicator would quickly show red and required cleaning more frequently than I had hoped. The built in filter cleaning button does work somewhat, but only buys you a very brief amount of use before it clogs again. The good news, for me anyway, is that this will be used infrequently because I’m a homeowner and have limited demand for it. As far as filtration is concerned this does a really good job of capturing the fine particles that other vacuums blow out. Okay, so I was a bit skeptical that this would be better than my traditional shop vacuum for cleaning out my pellet grill. I was surprised how well this works. It has a narrow tube with lots of pressure to get all of the hidden crevices. It comes with several tip attachments to get into tight places as well. It has a HEPA filter and a fiberglass filter. There's an indicator on top that lets you know when it's about full or needs to be cleaned. Here's the neat part: You hold the clean button down for 5 seconds and it has an automatic cleaning cycle to clean the filter so you can keep using it without having to empty the canister. This saves you so much time and more importantly you don't have to breathe the dust every time you clean it or empty it, like the old shop vacs that keep clogging up and spreading dust. It does not blow dust out of it like you would expect from a typical shop vacuum. This is also intended to be used for cleaning out fireplaces. Caution: it is always important to make sure that there are not any hot embers, so you probably want to wait at least a day before you decide to clean your pellet grill or fireplace after use. This is one excellent ash vacuum in my opinion! The unit is high quality and well made throughout, and it was simple to assemble and begin using it within minutes. I have had issues with other shop type vacuums that did not filter the dust enough, but that is not an issue with this unit at all. The filtration is fantastic, and there is absolutely no dust in the air or coming from the exhaust port. The suction is very powerful and has been doing a great job to remove the ash to date. We have a pellet stove insert for our fireplace. So we don’t get a tone of ash like a typical fireplace. But this vac is amazing. This ash vacuum is well made and does a great job getting the ashes out. It has good suction and is compact enough to keep right by your stove, if need be. It's fairly easy to clean out. Highly recommend this one!
