These discs offer great value for the money, especially if you can catch them on sale. The quality seems to be good, and I have been happy with their performance when I play. I also like the colors and designs of the discs that I received, but that may not be the case for everyone as you don't get to choose the colors. High school brings new opportunities, and after his first week of school my son joined a disc golf class out of the blue using the school’s loaner discs. He loved it and to be supportive I wanted to get him a set *now*. God bless Amazon Prime. These are perfect. He still uses the original (reusable, corrugated cardboard) packaging to store them in his backpack between classes, they are official enough to pass for “legit” (meaning they don’t scream “mock me, I’m a starter set my mom bought!”), and they are sturdy as heck. Note: do not call them frisbees. They are so heavy duty they could be mistaken for chew toys for very large dogs. Or, you know, sports equipment for teenagers. ... show more

I like that this is an affordable complete set, you get a Driver, Mid Range, and Putter for $20. I'm still learning how to throw properly, it is a really fun way to spend and afternoon outside. I am surprised of the learning curve to throw the disks, I've played about 3 games and I'm still improving. If you pick this up I would recommend looking up a youtube video on how to throw, it makes a big difference! I was surprised to see how much the disks did get teared up in the first few games, there is a side walk that cuts through my local course so then the disks hit the side walk they get some pretty gnarly nicks when hitting the sidewalk. If you're not playing near side walks that shouldn't be a problem. ... show more

Read all the reviews and got just what I expected. No problems with the discs as delivered, NOT USED as some adverse reviews commented. Weight were right on the mark in agreement with my own kitchen scale. As a beginner, like me, you will not get these discs to fly 100 or 200 yards -- that only comes with practice, practice, practice and good technique and better discs. Start with these, everything i have read says you won't be able to toss better discs at the start. I am a former athlete, but older now and arm strength is not what I had when I played baseball. Just starting out, two weeks in, about 5 days throwing, I can only manage about 50 yards (sometimes the putter goes as far as the other discs), and I think I could never get to 100 yards with these, no way. But that may be more me than the discs. If you can get close to 100 yards with the driver and mid-range with this set on most all your shots, you probably are ready to buy better discs. I am very satisfied with this purchase (got 2 sets) -- as advertised and per all good reviews and came quickly. ... show more

If you want to take up disc golf this started set is HIGHLY recommended before you go pay a lot of money for discs you won't be able to throw. The numbers on disc have a purpose and you need to research it and then go throw these before going to buy more expensive and less forgiving discs. They are not as durable as other higher end plastics but you can get plenty of rounds out of them. Over time, the ware and tear will make the disc fly differently but that doesn't mean they are useless. By the way, I bought these. A week later I went to Sporting Goods Store and bought 4 more drivers because I thought after a week I was knoelageble enough. I WAS NOT. I paid 25 dollars for a driver that I cannot and will probably never be able to throw so my review is my cautionary tale. This set is PERFECT for beginners and the Leopard Driver is still one of my two go to drivers. ... show more

Style Name: Starter Set
The discs in this set usually weight between 145 and 158 grams each and are very light compared to what most people throw. Lighter discs is probably a good starting point for children, 16 and under, women, people who aren't going to throw with power right out of the box, people who's body isn't too flexiable, etc. Me as a over 6 foot man in athletic shape couldn't throw these more than 100' my first try. So the lower weight helps you learn. As you get better, you'll learn these lighter discs get a bit "flippy" when thrown and you might want heavier discs. 2+ months in and now I own 40+ discs and I'm throwing discs more around the 172-180 gram ranges which feels more comfortable and seems to be pretty common of a weight. If you think you're going to be addicted to disc golf or are a more athletic person who thinks they can figure out how to throw with proper form quickly, you might want to go for the more expensive 5-pack which has higher weights by default. As a beginner though, don't start throwing that Destroyer disc until you can correctly throw the Roc or the T-bird 300+ feet with good form or you might be doing a disservice to yourself. So between this set and the more expensive 5-disc set, you need to estimate how much you'll be playing disc golf and how athletic you are. I would say this set for less athletic people to smaller framed people, and the other set for people who understand throwing form a little bit and can match it with some power/speed. ... show more
