  • Nice little set, appears well made.
Review for INCLY 7 pcs Geology Rock Pick Kit: This seems like a high quality set of tools: it's actually 4 real "tools" (hammer, sledge, and 2 chisels), plus 3 small gadgets (safety glasses, which are critical in use, compass and loupe.) As luck would have it, I had to break up some concrete this weekend, using my commercial grade 4 lb sledge and chisels. The INCLY 3 lb sledge and and slightly smaller chisel substituted into those tasks just fine on a short comparison. From memory, I probably paid as much for the 4 lb sledge and a single commercial chisel as the cost of this kit. I didn't use the pick hammer and pick drill on this project, but the INKLY hammer looks comparible to my EastWing brick hammer, except that I doubt the INKLY finish would hold up as well with long-term abuse. (The EastWing has hammer and chisel faces, while the Inkly has hammer & pick faces.) I'm not sure what the plating is, but it's not the polished and chromed finish of the EastWing. I got this set because my spouse has been wanting to hunt for some fossils, so I didn't want to beat it up too much on my project: I'll update this review if we run into any issues on our first 'rocking' run. I'll be looking for a tool bag to make toting this around easier: The sledge is the longest piece at 13", so I'd suggest a 14" or larger tool bag. I can make it fit, cattycorner, in a 12" bag, but it's not convenient. In the meantime, a bucket might be a better choice. ... show more

  • The important parts of the kit are excellent. Some things you'll just toss though.
The 3lb sledge and the two cold chisels work perfectly. As soon as this arrived, I got busy busting up some concrete fencepost footings and they smashed right into it, saving me the trouble of renting or purchasing an air hammer. Worked a treat. No complaints. The goggles were kind of a joke but they mostly did the job. You DO need eye protection when using these tools, but these goggles fog up immediately and stay that way. Invest in something better and safer. Rock hammer. Haven't used yet, but if it's made of the same steel as the chisels and sledge, you're in business. Honestly it doesn't matter. This kit is enough of a value that just the two chisels justify the expense. The whistle. Cheap. Plastic. What a strange item to include. I guess it works, but who cares? I threw it away. The jeweler's loupe. I didn't get the kit for the geology aspect but I was surprised here. It's solid stainless steel and glass. Really does magnify to 10x when you hold it close enough. I'll keep it because it seems nice, but there's probably better options out there. ... show more

  • Very high quality.
This is a beautifully made set. It has anti-vibration and overstrike protection features with nicely made and ergonomically sound non-slip handles. The digging hammer is especially handy, and it has clear coating to help prolong its life (Yeah, it'll wear off fairly quickly from the working surfaces, but it's a very nice touch). The only visible metal is on the striking surfaces, everything else is painted or coated. The non-slip handle material is heavy and looks like it will survive extended heavy use. It's a very nice looking set as well, making it very giftable. ... show more

  • OK for occasional use, maybe?
If I paid $36 for this I might be disappointed. But I received it free as part of the Amazon Vines program. First, the good: The 3 lb hammer is completely functional. I’d speculate it isn’t hardened steel, but I saw no damage to the hammer after several dozen blows on the included chisels. The jewelers loupe works well and is a nice addition to the kit. The two chisels are finished nicely and the protective handles are comfortable. I used the pointy one to make holes in a steel burn barrel and it held up fine. Be aware that the protective handles will slide up and down the chisel shaft as you are hammering. I didn’t use the chisel point yet, but when I do I will update this review. The bad: The eye protection does not have the ANSI rating it should. It’s been drilled in me to NEVER use safety glasses that don’t say ANSI 787 on them. These don’t. They went in the trash immediately. The whistle. Why is there a whistle? The geologists hammer is clearly of a much lower quality (hardness and finish) than my Estwing hammer. But an Estwing hammer alone would cost as much as this entire Amazon kit. So, you get what you pay for, I guess. The hammer/rock pick in this kit should be fine for softer rocks. ... show more

  • Good quality
These are great tools both for geology, or for masonry work. There's a couple real nice chisels (well, a chisel and a point) with a hefty shield for your hand. I work with stone and this is something you could use all day and still not hurt yourself. For geology, the chisels are maybe a little overkill, with the shields, and heavier than they need to be because of it, and the same for professional stonework, the weight.., but good for amateurs. Will save some smashed fingers on the learning curve. ... show more

  • Quality tools
I recently got the INCLY 7 Pcs Geology Rock Pick Equipment Kit and I'm really happy with it. It's a great starter kit for anyone interested in rockhounding or stone breaking. The hammers and chisels are sturdy and durable, and the safety glasses are a must-have. I especially like the jeweler's loupe, which allows me to get a closer look at my finds. Overall, I think it's a great value for the price, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a complete kit of tools for their rockhounding adventures. ... show more

  • Hammertime
I got this mainly for the 3lb drilling hammer. Drilling hammers are perfect for just about any hammer task when you're not driving nails and at 11.5" it's a perfect fit for 13.5" tool rolls. The drilling hammer in this set is decent quality - not particularly fancy but it has the weight and didn't break on me or anything. The rock pick hammer and two cold chisels are similarly decent quality. The safety glasses and whistle are junky (the whistle's thermometer is a whole 5* C off), but they're not the point of this set. The loupe is fine. ... show more
