  • Comfortable, fairly light/cool, and seems protective
Size: XX-Large
First, I trust Leatt’s tech, products, and reputation though I don’t have lots of experience with their bicycling gear (for off-road motorcycling I do have a set of their Z-frame knee braces and tried an armored shirt that I actually liked, but that did not fit me well). I bought these because my aging (61) self is taking up mountain biking again after 20 years away from it. Past experience has taught me I’m definitely going to fall, so now that I’m old, I want any protective advantage I can get. These looked to fill the bill and after inspection I have to say that I think they will be great. I have just put in one relatively short ride on these guys and they exceeded my expectations for comfort and coolness. The weather was relatively warm, and I was not in the most ventilated overshorts, but my naughty bits stayed pretty comfortable. I have read reviews where some people feel like the chamois is too far forward in the seat, but I didn’t find that to be the case. The hip/thigh armor seems sufficient to prevent/reduce bruising, which is all I expect. Looking forward to putting them to the test on real trails. The design of these shorts is pretty impressive. It looks to me like Leatt put a lot of thought into the materials and construction. Only drawback I see so far is they expect you to hand-wash them. TBH, I’ll probably put them in the washer, but in a laundering bag. I do the same for my armored motorcycling shirts, etc. and that has worked out fine. Update 11/06/2023: I’ve worn these liners a number of times now. I continue to believe that they offer good protection, though I wish they had a bit more armor coverage. They are also very comfortable (for the most part) and seem to keep things fairly cool down below. So my one niggle with comfort is the chamois in my copy has kind of a “mold defect” that results in a small raised area, almost like a seam, that interacts negatively with my taint. This is only a problem on a longer ride, say over 10 miles. If I go much over that, I really can’t wait to get them off. Once they’re off, I’m fine. I still like these liners a lot, and I choose them over any others I have, if they’re clean. I like them so much I’ve ordered a 2nd pair. ... show more

  • Comfort and Protection
Size: Medium
Extremely comfortable and provided great protection. I bought these for a bike park trip at SnowShoe, I wasn’t planning on wrecking but nevertheless, I took did take a couple of high speed spills. They protected everything as they advertised. Not a bruise! A++++++++ buy and highly recommended!

  • Good shorts chamois could be better
Size: XX-Large
These are pretty beefy and substantial. Kinda heavy and hot but hopefully offer good protection.

  • Love these shorts
Size: Medium
When I ordered these I was concerned with how comfortable they would be when pedaling and whether they might be hot. But after wearing them for several weeks I've got to say that these are some of the most comfortable shorts I've owned. When pedaling, I don't notice the extra padding at all. The hip pad is very pliable in your hands, but if you rap on it with your knuckles it sounds like a piece of plastic; soft when pedaling, firm on impact. The chamois is firm and comfortable. Much of the short material is mesh and is very cool. The crotch area has a bit of a pouch so your junk doesn't feel like it's been shrink wrapped. Much of the material is thin and light-weight which could raise the question of durability, but based on my previous experiences with Leatt products, I tend to think it will hold up well. I highly recommend these shorts. ... show more

  • Very comfortable
Size: X-Large
Runs small, but good hip and perenial padding. Hip padding feels sturdy and would absorb an impact from MTB fall. I wish I had bought this sooner prior to a big crash after which I ended up in hospital for hip surgery. Worth the money, should have bought it sooner and would have saved me from surgery. ... show more

  • comfort and protection in one
Size: X-Large
So far I have really liked these shorts. The chamy is very comfortable, the short feels comfortable but will likely be warm in summer, for now they are great. I have landed hard on the lateral hip a few times and really got bruised up. Hope these will give that extra protection I could have used on those harsh falls. I don't kow yet how durable they will be but appear to be very well made. They are pricey but if they last they will be worth it to me. ... show more

  • Comfortable w/good protection
Size: Medium
I bought these because they offered quad & hip protection along with a built in chamois. Compared to similar shorts I’ve tried, these are really comfortable for short rides or full days on the trails. Very durable fabric and worth the $$$. Update: the hip pads work!
