Works flawlessly. VERY easy to use, unlike some calls that take time to perfect a perfect blow. Only things that caught my eye were the groove for the lanyard looks a lil shallow for my liking and the reed slide moves a little too easily. Feels like I’d have to hold it in the right position to keep it from sliding around. I’ll gladly overlook both those things for the quality sound this makes with ease. So, this isn’t the first time I’ve purchased this item, I will say the lanyard ends up getting broken/unattached with these a little too easy that’s how I lost my first one. HOWEVER The illusion calling system is hands down the BEST system you can purchase. It’s authentic sounding. The Deer will come to it if it’s used properly at the right times. Along with the black rack these 2 calls make a killer combo.. I’ve rattled in 10 bucks now at least in the last couple of seasons with the black rack. But the grunt call can be just as lethal if used at the correct time. Same goes for the black rack. Timing is everything. Take the time to study your area and to know the deer behavior in your area. I began looking a for a call this year to replace a good, but old wooden call I've been using for 20 years or so. Biggest requirement was that the call not require exhaling hard to get the grunt going. This call delivers. It takes very little effort to produce nice, soft but deep grunt calls. The external slide works great too. Really nice to not have to take it apart and slide an o-ring to a different slot. I would recommend this call! Thank you! ... show more

Made well and easily comes apart for cleaning. I'd recommend watching all their videos on YouTube first. I'm no master but I can do the basic calls. Used out hunting but never worked for our area. Our seasons here in California don't run long enough.

Amazing call, mad I didn’t buy one sooner. I’ve always used cheap calls and never had any success calling. This year decided to buy a nice call and give it a shot. The very next day after getting the call I had a buck and doe cruising by my stand, couldn’t get the buck to come my way, so I switched to a fawn bleat and the doe turned straight for me. Shot the buck at 20 yrds broadside. Ordered a second call in case I forget my other one. Amazing how easy it is to use ... show more

Got it and watched part of the DVD which would not play in my DVD player but worked on my computer. Guess I should knock it one star for that but I was able to watch it and I am not sure if it was meant for a DVD player. What I do like about it is the simplicity. I have another call that allows you to change the pitch and it is smaller which is nice but sometimes it will not give you what you are after when you push down in the spot it indicates. Also you have to alter the tone with the way you blow since both hands are often occupied working it. I do like the tone of this one better. used it hunting with no deer seeming to respond but this year the deer have been scarce. Trying a spot that was really good last year so maybe I might get to see if deer respond. I did have three deer come charging in to a call last year with the other call so I think that given the same situation this one would have worked as well. It is not magic but I have come to believe that you can get a deer coming your way with the call. I do need to view the rest of the DVD but for the basic calls that I already know about this one creates a really nice tone and so far has been very consistent and very life like. That being said I have heard different animals produce calls that do not sound at all like something like you would ever do with a call so a call that does not sound so pure might not mean your hunt is ruined. But for the price I think it is a great sounding call you get a strap to carry it around your neck and a DVD instruction disk. For this price I think it is a great value for any call. ... show more
