  • Good light options, a few duds but support was very helpful
Color: 6 In-12 Pack
I ended up buying 20 of these lights (A 12 pack and a 8 pack) in December 2022. I have a lot of wifi lights around the house. I choose to use this for replacing our recessed lights. They were easy to convert from the old recessed light. My 15yo daughter did a number of the conversions. The metal flaps that hold them in work good, until you need to replace one, we had a couple where it ripped the drywall on the ceiling removing it. I like how easy these are to set up. With some lights you have to configure each bulb separately. But with these, you click add and it will find all bulbs that need to be paired, and set them up together. So much easier. The Lumary app is good, there are lots of options to select colors, cycle through a set of colors, or even set the lights to change with music. I did have to add an extra wifi hotspot to get the colors to all change quickly enough, otherwise there was one or two that would lag behind. The pairing with Google Home was easy, and we have a lot of control with this. For example, we have a light above the kitchen sink that comes on a couple hours after sunset in red at about 25% brightness, and stays on for a few hours then turns off. As far as longevity, within the first 2 weeks one light quit working. We moved it around, and decided to wait and see how the others faired. By Oct 2023, (10 months after installing) there were 4 failed lights, and decided it was time to get help. We contacted support and they had us try a number of troubleshooting steps. After about a week, with nothing working, they shipped us some new lights to replace the 4. In Nov/Dec (11 months after install), we had 4 more lights all fail within a 2 week period. We walked through various troubleshooting steps, and ended up contacting support again, this time they were very quick and got us hooked up with new lights. Right now we have all 20 lights working. Occasionally, a light will start flashing, and we have to add it via the app once again. The app seems to know the light was already setup, so it gets added with the correct name and in the right group. We have some of these lights installed in an area of the house with 18 foot ceiling, and had them installed when we were replacing a ceiling fan. We have been fortunate so far that none of the lights that failed required getting a scaffolding to replace. (Knocks on wood) ... show more

  • What no one talks about
Color: 1-4 In-4 Pack
Searched for months for a “reasonable” alternative to the highly. Overpriced Philips lights. Found these and decided to add them to my remodel which includes 42 new can lights. My concern was going to be programming them. Do you have to do them one at a time? If you do them as a group and one doesn’t take do you have to start over? These questions and many others lead me to do hours of YouTube research and no one discusses those issues. Let me break down the installation process and it’s simplest form for those of you curious how to do it. All I did was install all the lights. Turned the switch on per group, and they all start flashing. Not all of them will sync up on the app when you start adding them. The easy part is any that don’t add, when you turn the lights back on will be the only ones still flashing and you can add them at that point. Super easy install, there were a few lights that took several times before they would add to the app but overall couldn’t be more pleased with these lights. Highly recommend. Time will tell about their longevity. ... show more

  • Had high hopes, but was disappointed
Color: 6 In-1 Pack
I wanted a dimmable smart lighting solution for my place that didn't require a separate smart hub or playing with electrical wiring. These seemed like a good deal; they fit the bill as far as what I was looking for, and offered RGB control to boot. I was hesitant since there were not many reviews, but I bit the bullet and bought a couple. Installation is simple if you have existing recessed lighting. You basically just screw the adapter in the light socket, then connect the light to it, and push it into place...done. Not so fast, though--read on. Unfortunately the physical setup was the only thing I was pleased with. For starters, the build quality of this light is not the best. Compared to the existing recessed lights I had, these had a substantially lighter and lower quality body. I suspect most people wouldn't notice though. That being, I purchased these more for their function rather than their aesthetic. However, they are 0/2, as the product does not seem to be very reliable. After many ardous attempts, I was unable to get these to work. I really, really wanted to though. What they offer for the price is amazing. Alas, it may just be too good to be true. They advise that this light is only able to connect to a 2.4 GHz network. I changed my router's settings to comply. You also need to download the app and register before setting up a device. I did this as well (the app does not currently have a favorable rating, by the way). I followed instructions to the T, but no matter what I did I was unable to pair the first light out of the box. "No big deal, maybe it's just one dud," I thought. However, doubt turned to despair and frustration as the second light also did not go into pairing mode after power was applied. The manual said all I needed to do was to flip the switch for "easy setup" mode. Not so, iLintek. I did end up getting the second light to finally go into pairing mode, but only after different (seemingly random) patterns of turning the switch on and off. They say you can turn it on and off 3 times to force it into pairing mode, and that did happen (once), but I seemingly had to get the timing just right. After a marathon I was able to connect the device to my Wi-Fi network, and the app responded and tried to communicate with the device. I felt hopeful since the device showed up on my Wi-Fi router's MAC address table. After a minute though, the app failed to register the device with a "Failed to get device" message where the only option was to acknowledge my frustration by tapping "Got it." I really didn't, though. It never went into pairing mode ever again. And so it went back into its shipment box for a speedy return to its bin in the Amazon warehouse, along with the others. This is my first Amazon review, though it's a shame that it should be a negative review. For now, if you were thinking about getting these I would say "pass." They may or may not work for you, but based on my experience I believe the failure rate is too high and the software/firmware is not robust enough. ... show more
