Description

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Have used this for a month now. The sensor is outdoors to notify me of people coming up our long driveway. I just placed it on the ground in a corner, it is surrounded by rocks and getting rained on. It has done great! It detects both cars and people walking up. Note that even on "Low" the notification is VERY piercing and loud for inside a home. You will hear it! Have had a couple "false alarms" that I think were birds hopping around nearby, and one late at night that might have been our local raccoon or deer. I had been looking for something to alert me that my cat wanted to come back into the house from our screen porch. Since we live in a cold climate, we would prop the door a little ajar but she wouldn't always push the door open. Consequently, she was scratching at the doorjamb causing quite a bit of damage, and we were losing a lot of heat unnecessarily. I have tried other options like hanging bells (of various kinds) low on the door, to no avail. In the picture, you'll see the hook on the door for the bells. This summer, I fixed the gouges in the doorjamb and seals but she is causing new damage. She's a cat.... After searching quite a bit, I did not find a specific manufacturer for cat alarms but I reasoned I could use this device. It was easy to install and set-up, and is working perfectly. This product was shipped fast, set-up was super easy, had a great range for detecting movement. Was so happy with this item that I ordered two more sensors. Held my breath that they would connect without any issues. I was pleased to find out that they connected without any problems. I was up and running both times within minutes of opening the boxes. Great for use in my small business with many entries. Now I know when a customer is approaching when I'm busy working. My only wish was that it had different tones so that I could quickly identify which entry is being triggered. Maybe that feature could be added in the next model upgrade. I use this so I can keep my garage door open when I use the internal door to go into the house. The motion detection works well...a little too well so that you have to be careful where you point it. My garage opens straight to the street, and I set up the motion detector almost perpendicular to the street facing slightly outward, and it started detecting cars on the street three houses away. Nothing fancy here. Three tones - chime that beeps four times either low or high (I use this on the high), and a scary alarm setting. I just set the motion detector on a shelf in the garage, and the alarm on a stool inside the house, and try to remember to flip the on off switch when I go through the door. The alarm module uses C size batteries, but you can purchase an adapter to plug it into the wall. The adapter is a little more expensive than I would have thought...and unfortunately I didn't have one that output the same voltage. ... show more

In my line of work, I need to focus my attention in one direction for long periods and I want to minimize the chances that someone can sneak up on me. This package is a great deal, but would it work at the distance I needed? I set up the sensor at the entrance gate to my work area and put the alarm unit on the dashboard of my truck, about 250 meters away. It was mostly line-of-sight, with some sparse trees in the way. When my coworker came through the gate, I was greeted with a pleasant chime that thrilled me out of all proportion. This is a cool little unit and I'm super happy I found it. It will be going everywhere with me. Update 1: Exactly one day after the return window closed, the receiver has stopped working. I will change the batteries and see if that helps; if not, I will test Amazon’s customer service. All I want is a unit that works. Update 2: I changed the batteries and that didn’t work. I was getting ready to take the receiver apart and make sure everything was connected, but it suddenly magically started working again. (Shrug) ... show more

I use this to detect any motion in my garden because we have critters who would eat veggies. Although it does detect motion, the sound is very weak. You can tell that it's cheaply made by the quality of the plastic.

We have a seven pound Maltese-Shih Tzu that is house trained to use a potty pad. We use this alarm to let us know when she is doing her business so we can get up and clean her paws and bum (yes, my wife and I are both nuts). We have two sensors to monitor two different potty places in bathrooms on two different levels. The alarm is loud enough to wake us even on the low setting. If anything, my wife would like a lower volume for the alarm - I'm hard of hearing and don't wear my hearing aids to bed, so the low setting works well for me. The sensors are easy to "pair" with the alarm unit. We really like this device for our intended use and it works extremely well. It's a good value for the price. ... show more

    • Right out of the box, alarm does not sound!
Amazon needs to facilitate negative star ratings for use when customers have been ripped off--as happened here. There were no accompanying batteries or 6V adaptor so I couldn't set the thing up until I had gone online for the user instructions and assembled those. (With my otherwise busy schedule that took me a while.) Online instructions said to use 9V batteries, but after I bought those I discovered that my unit used AAA batteries instead, so I had to go out again and get those. Nearly $95 later, I was finally able to assemble the thing only to discover that it is defective and doesn't make a sound. Therefore it is UTTERLY AND COMPLETELY USELESS. Amazon won't take it back because by the time I was able to get it assembled I was past my return date. WHAT A COMPLETE, EXPENSIVE RIPOFF! ... show more
