  • PC Tech of 35 yrs - BEST VALUE for the Money - UPDATED REVIEW (newer model)
Color: black
I am a professional IT Pro, system builder and enthusiast of 35 years. It is not easy to impress me, yet this affordable cooler exceeded my expectations. Yes, I read all the reviews and there were some whiners, but I consider them to be buffoons. For starters, this cooler is a perfect replacement for the stock Intel coolers that come with the 12th gen CPUs. My caution is this cooler is best for 12th gen CPUs, such as Pentium, i3 and i5. I do NOT recommend this ID Cooler model for overclocking or anything more powerful (like i7 or i9)... since this model is NOT made for crazy excessive heat. Since the review below, ID Cooling has improved the fan retention springs. They now have a crook type hook to lock into the fan frame holes. (see last photo) This will help if you ship your computer, as it resists the G forces of the boxes on the UPS/FedEx conveyer belts.. helping the fans from falling off the grill. Also if they were to dismount off the aluminum block, remounting is easier because the springs stay on the fan. Assembly of the cooler is easy. I recommend you READ the directions to understand which parts are to be used and which are extra/alternative. When done, I found the mounting secure and stable. I trust this kind of mount over push pins. Why? When I have shipped computers with push pin fans to clients, several times shipping caused the coolers to come loose while in route. My 12th gen i3-12100 has four cores, 32 GB G.Skill RAM, Samsung 4th gen 980 Pro 500g SSD, MSI 1700 LGA motherboard with onboard 4 video ports... and nothing more. The case is a clever, well-ventilated aluminum mini-tower made by Rosewill (you can't buy it any more.) Said case is NOT good for sound buffering, so any FAN installed must be whisper quiet for a work environment like my own. After adjusting my fans speeds in the bios, the system is now silent. Note: on my first setup, I heard a nagging buzz sound, but this came from an older rear vent fan, which I changed to a 100% silent variety. Then I connected this exhaust fan to the wrong motherboard header, which made it spin too fast. And... plugging in the wrong header for the exhaust fan affected the speed of the ID COOLER fan.. which makes no sense, but it happened regardless. My CPu temperature testing was done two independent ways. One from the board bios and then once Win 10 Pro was loaded, I downloaded the free CoreTemp program. The first time I tested with this software, I had already MISCONNECTED my exhaust fan to the wrong header. After realizing my mistake, I went into the bios and ran CoreTemp again to reverify fan speeds and temperatures. Both the ID COOLER and exhaust fans slowed down and CPU temps remained low at idle (about 90 F) with fluctuations to 98 F. The attached snapshot shows my idle CPU readings in Win 10 Pro in Celcius. These are the lowest CPU core readings I have ever seen in a performance computer. I advise when using this cooler... To be sure to install at least ONE rear fan blowing exhaust outside the case. Why? The ID Cooler does it job best if you add negative airflow to the case itself. You do this by adding fans... where ONE fan must pull air OUT of the case in the same direction of the ID Cooler fan. And THIS is how my system is set up. If you add yet more fans, which is a good idea if you have a gaming video card adding system heat, then you add THOSE fans to locations that PULL fresh air INSIDE the computer. Those areas often have dust filters, so that is how you know which area is for IN-DRAFT fans. In summary, you want air flowing just in ONE direction inside your case. ... show more

  • Does it job without breaking the bank
Color: black
It is a great cooler for my 5600x3D since the CPU does not come with a stock cooler. Pretty easy to install, though you might want a lil patience when screwing it to the frame. It keeps my CPU under a very desirable temp. I found its RGB light a bit nicer than my other case fans. Great product and great value! ... show more

  • Great for budget builds
Color: white
This cpu cooler looks very good for white builds like this. It cooled my r5 3600 super easily and the rgb on it looks amazing. It came packed very well with thermal paste and it was a little bit hard to install the first time but it’s not bad after a little. I love this cooler and I would recommend it for white builds like this! ... show more

  • Pretty good CPU Cooler
Color: white
I am a technology professional and have been building systems for a very LONG time. I am always looking for value when buying parts for a build. I do not overclock as I will take stability over issues you might run into. This CPU cooler is awesome. I've installed it on an older i5 4690k and a newer i5 12th gen and it cools like it should. I do not give reviews often but when I do, it's because I like a product. My ratings is based on my system that products rarely get a 5 star review across the board. A perfect product is not real. Having said that, buy this cooler. Value and price! ... show more

  • I'm not overclocking, but low noise, proper cooling and reasonable price are important to me
Color: white
I have three previous builds where I had bought various versions of Coolermaster 212's and they've always worked well for the price, at that time! Unfortunately, they've gotten too full of themselves and have raised the prices 3-4x of what they used to sell for, without improving the technology. Coolermaster 212's were never the best, but they were consistently better than average for the price you paid. The last CPU cooler I bought before this one was an Aresgame 5 and that worked well too, but wasn't on sale this time around. This CPU cooler reminds me a lot of what Coolermaster used to be, economically priced with solid features. The only part where I think ID-Cooling cheaped out is with the wire fan clips. They work, but they tend to bend the radiator fins and are challenging to remove without damaging more fins, even more difficult after the cooler is mounted on your mobo in the CPU case. I solved this by using the extra set of plastic fan clips from previous CM 212 build and they fit PERFECTLY. These plastic clips are a snug fit to the cooler and can be installed without damaging fins and removed a little easier than using the wire clips. Other than the fan clips, the CPU mounting bracket is easy to install and the extra clearance on one side of the radiator works great for clearing tall RAM heatsinks. ... show more

  • very pleased with this fan
Color: black
This CPU fan at this prize is WILD. Although I disconnected the RGB cable on it as I prefer not having any RGB on my computer. Heat dissipation is great on this heatsink/fan, and the thermal paste it brought has not given me any issues at all so far. I am very happy with this purchase, considering the price I am very, very impressed. CPU temps for a Ryzen 5 7600X are nearly always withing the 40°C while idling, and around 60~65°C while gaming (I chose an intensive CPU game for this). I did have one time where it reached 74°C, however I must point out that over a span of just seconds, it went back down by a considerable amount. ... show more

  • Great CPU Cooler and Easy to Install
Color: black
I took out my liquid cooler because your suppose to change out the liquid like every six months and it had been a year. I wasnt going waste time draining it and fill it back up then put it back in the computer. So I bought this cooler and its just as good if not better to me. Quality is good and install was simple but confusing at first. It comes with a packet of cooling gel but I bought one seperatly just to have more. Its a good product for the Price! ... show more
