  • Great combo. Worth the money in time savings alone.
Model: CRP1096
I was skeptical, but I read some good reviews so I bought it. Great price point. Sturdy, fairly well made for the cost. The cutter is great...nice square cuts. NOTE: If you're getting crooked cuts, slow your grip. Ease through the cut, take your time and it will be square. Cuts up to 1", and this is where it's most noticeable. The crimping part takes a lot of force. 4 hands are better than 2 when working with 1" pipe. If you're in a tight space working with 1", good luck, but it can done. 1/2" and 3/4" aren't bad and require less force as the pipe gets smaller. If I were an everyday plumber, I would purchase a high quality tool, but for home install this set is perfect, sturdy, and functional, low cost. Also, the crimp band cutter works well. Turn to #2 and squeeze the clamp and a little twist, it pops off. Happy plumbing! ... show more

  • Great tool!
Model: CRP1096
This tool performs just as well as name brand in my opinion, at least it performed well enough that I did not feel the need to return it and go for the much more expensive name brand. It removed the old pex clamps easily, whilst applying the new ones just as easily. It was easy to adjust it between cutting and cinching modes. The size was perfect, and it was stable in my hands whilst using. The included pex pipe cutter was appreciated and worked well. ... show more

  • Very good tool for the price
Model: CRP1096
I used this to make two 1/2" joints so far, and it worked perfectly. It's a sturdy took and could do 1/2" joints all day without any problem. I have not tried it on 3/4" connections. For 1/2" connections, it is a good tool for the price and completely adequate. If you are a DIYer, nothing more is needed. As others have noted, it takes just a little muscle (not much) to get it started when the handles are spread out. Once the handles come in closer together, it's not difficult to squeeze them together. The entire crimping operation is ONE squeeze of the handle. One language nuance, it is NOT a "ratchet" as described. To me, if it were a ratchet, you could squeeze the handles all the way together, and the jaws would clamp down a little, then you could release the handles a little and squeeze again, and the jaws would tighten more. That's not how this works. The entire clamping operation happens with one squeeze of the handles from open to closed. If you stop in the middle, it will hold that position until you squeeze again to complete the crimp. I could see it being a little difficult on 3/4" connections, but on 1/2" (even without a ratchet feature), it's fine. ... show more

  • Simple tools , works great, decent quality
Model: CRP1096
I replaced all the plumbing in my house using these tools. I found if the pipe you were working with was cold or area wasnt that warm it was harder to cut and crimp the pipe. In certain areas or angles it was harder to get the tool to crimp but it was obtainable. Very easy to switch from crimp to cut. I found if I put the run together and then installed it was easier. I would definitely buy again and highly recommend. ... show more

  • A cheap method to DIY PEX connections
Model: CRP1096
I am not a plumber but decided to DIY a repair on my house's pressure regulator valve. The Good: Unless you're using 1in Pex, this kit has all you need to start. The tool resulted in a tight seal with no leaks. It is affordable and built well. A nice feature is the crimping tool does not return back to the open state until the crimp head reaches a certain point, ensuring the pex clamp is at its optimal tightness. When you're DIYing on something like plumbing where incorrect installation can be costly, a feature like this is much appreciated. The bad: It does require a good amount of force to close the crimp tool completely. This isn't a deal breaker but should be considered depending on the person and space you're working in. Attempting to use the tool in a tight place (deep underground) with little leverage can be a challenge. I ended up having to use a woodwork trigger clamp to clamp the handles together to perform the crimp. Overall, I was very satisfied with the results it produced, quality, and price of this item. ... show more

  • Works great
Model: CRP1096
At half the cost of the crimpers from Lowe’s this was a great deal. Plus it came with the cutter and some bands. The quality seems great. I already used this to install a new washer hookup and added a spigot in my garage. Was super easy to use, I’m sure I’ll find future projects too.
