I use this in my 19' bow rider Sea Ray. I have it set to the maximum height and I have the feet as far apart as possible. I find it can be a little tricky sometimes when putting the cover on the boat. When pulling the cover toward the stern, sometimes the pole wants to tip over with the cover. I get the best results if I ignore that and crawl back in after I have the cover mostly tied down and stand the pole back up so it's in tension with the cover. Once it's in place, it stays there. I've had some strong storms and the pole stays upright. The key is to have your cover tied down tightly so the wind can't make it billow too much. I don't like that I have to crawl back into the boat to stand the pole up, so that's one negative. The only other negative is the top doesn't stay on the pole when you take it out of the boat to store somewhere. I wish that was a little more snug of a fit. These are made of incredibly thin steel but they should hold up a boat cover. Where they really suffer is in the interface between the plastic domed top and the steel tripod. There is a 1/4"-20 threaded stud on the pole that threads into a brass insert in the thin brittle plastic. This part of the design is extremely weak. It broke after the first use. ... show more

I purchased these poles to keep water from pooling on the top of our boat cover. The first few times worked great. There is a learning curve on placement. However, we are only a few months in and the screws will no longer thread the supports and I have two legs that won’t stay secure. The curved tops keep falling off as well. Not sure what happened. A must for strap type boat covers, but diffuse to keep standing up. If the bas legs were longer and and a wide base when extended these would be much better
