Out of the box, I really liked this code reader. I have both a W210 and a W251 chassis vehicle, and had low expectations on reading the W210. But for the W251, this reader has so far already been helpful in diagnosing an air conditioning failure, reading the refrigerant pressure and providing more detail than I could diagnose without a trip to the shop. It also is picking up minor faults on ancillary systems not triggering a CEL, like hatch sensors, which is immensely helpful. The unit seems to be built fairly well, the buttons seem durable, the menus are tolerable to navigate. The manual is not especially helpful or well written, so I had to learn as I went. Hopefully I won't destroy anything while tinkering, but so far I have figured out how to read the OBDII codes, read other system's codes, store these codes on the included memory card, and then recall them afterwards to see what projects I have soon. The unit paid for itself almost immediately, since I was able to tell my mechanic exactly what services I need performed, so from here on out I'm calling it just a bonus. That was all for the W251, though. If you have a W210, don't expect too much - it reads the OBDII functions through both the OBDII port and the 38-pin port, but I couldn't get the unit to read any of the other features besides that. Disappointed, but it wasn't unexpected. Overall, I am very pleased so far, and hope this unit continues to inform me about enough minor issues to make it worth the expense. It's so much less expensive than a STAR reader or some of the more high end scanners that it's almost foolish not to get this unit, and I am happy to have purchased the M-B specific model instead of the multi-car model, which seemed like it would be a compromise in terms of being able to read all key subsystems of the M-B vehicles. At this price point compared to shop costs, I'm fine buying another one if I get another brand of vehicle in the future. ... show more

    • 38 pin mercedes YOU HAVE TO BUY THEIR 50$ RED ADAPTER BLACK ONLY DOES ENGINE
Easy to use and quick on my 1994 mercedes c280 w202 in both the obd2 port and 38 pin. Only caveat when they say you have to buy their 38 pin adapter for 50$ they mean it cheaper black ones don't work for full system only engine diagnostic same for obd2 on those models. Otherwise allowed me to reset the srs light hut only after that additional purchase. ... show more

    • Never Worked Correctly / Tech Support is Very Poor
I bought this item as I was intermittently receiving an ABS light on my Mercedes G500. When I first received the unit I hooked it up and it read 100 fault codes (seemed high to me for a vehicle with no problems, other than the random ABS code). I tried to clear the codes, so I could start with a fresh slate....nope, that didn’t work, in fact, I have never been able to get it to clear any codes. Included in the package was a telephone number for “tech support.” I put it in quotes, because it is just some guy’s cell phone number. I called about three times, just got his voicemail, I texted a few times and finally got a response. It was very generic and didn’t help. This past week my ABS light came on again. I plugged in the reader and it showed zero faults, even though the ABS light was on.... I contacted the seller through Amazon who was useless and rude. I provided him with some pictures of the display and his response was, “Why are you showing me this?” This thing is junk. I own about 4 other code reader and all of them work...tech support was poor and the seller was useless. I am contacting Amex for a chargeback, this thing is a brick. So….my regular OBD2 had reached its limits to clear up my SRS light. Instead of having to pay an Indy shop to read the code, come back home to correct the issue, and having it cleared at cost, I opted to purchase the iCarsoft and 38 pin adapter. Overall it was a positive experience, having to update the scanner right out the box was easy. Scanning my particular chassis (R129) was relatively easy and intuitive. The scanner recognized 21 modules to include the SRS via the 38 pin adapter. I was able eventually clear my SRS without any repairs needed as it came back with no faults found at first and then with an under voltage on the 15R circuit. Bottomline line, it performs as expected and promised. Only word of advice, vehicle is not as fast as the scanner, be patient for the modular signal to be sent. Exercise patience and update it as soon as you get it via the iCarsoft website. Good luck DIYs! ... show more

    • Perfect to reset Smart Car airbag light!
Okay, I bought this to reset my airbag light, but the real time diagnostics is also really cool and informative. I was able to check and clear all of the historical fault codes that the vehicle ever had, then rescan all modules in real time to check for current fault codes. Note that you can only reset the airbag from the diagnostics screen. The service screen will only allow you to reset the oil change interval even though there is an SRS icon.
