Contactors will fail in HVAC's Got this as a spare for the one currently installed. This is a clone for the contactor installed. Fit and finish is good. The contactor points are well made. Does not look or feal like cheap quality. Feels solid and hefty.

My contactor on my AC unit was getting stuck, causing the compressor to run non stop. I got it unstuck two times, but decided to replace so problem gets resolved. Upgraded from 25amps 1 pole 24 volts to 30amps 1 pole 24 volts. It was exact fit. Installation was easy, just take pictures of wiring and swap one wire at a time. AND it failed the next day. I got this to have as a spare but I wanted to install and test it first since they should be simple to swap out. This new contactor though is different in appearance to my original on my Bryant unit. That would usually not be a big deal except none of the terminals on this one are labeled. I had to search online for a similar looking one that had the terminals marked to orient this one properly. Not too big of a deal but something I haven't experienced before with an electrical part. My main obstacle to an easy installation though was the fact that there are no plates behind the screws to securely clamp your wires on this new contactor. The part with the spade terminal connections does float on the screw and can be slid forward, but the bus bar for the spades blocks a wire from going behind it. In a pinch I can split my stranded input conductors to fit around the screw or find some 8ga ring terminals, but if this was just a bit nicer it would have the proper clamps. These things see a lot of current so I would feel more comfortable with a more secure connection. ... show more
