  • Is perfect for me as a first time embroiderer
I did not buy this machine at Amazon so I can't comment on the shipment and packaging. I got it as a gift and immediately embroidered a cute little design I found on etsy and from then on was hooked. I haven't even used it as a sewing machine yet. Only embroidery. I've learned a TON over the last year and a half and am still learning. I admit, at first, I would get frustrated with certain things about the machine, but I've come to realize it was mostly user error. The designs you download should be done correctly (I've bought some awful ones). The thread you use should be quality. The bobbin has probably given me the most troubles, but again, it was mostly my error. I should get it in for a cleaning, but don't want to be without a machine! So in my opinion, this machine is great for a beginner but I plan to keep using it as long as I can. There are a couple things I'd look for in an upgrade someday (bigger screen so I can see the design better, multi-needle, bigger hoops, etc) but for now I'm satisfied. ... show more

  • Beautiful embroidery machine
This is my second embroidery machine, my first was a Brother. I really liked the Brother, but this is even better! Many built in decorative stitches - even a retro bicycle stitch. A USB drive allows endless patterns to be loaded. It comes with software included, but it is the entry level version. Useful, but not sufficient for more experienced embroiderers. I use the free, open source Ink/stitch to do what Premier 2+ entry level will not. You can purchase the full P2+ - for $2000! But I haven't found anything Ink/stitch can't do for free. The Jade 35 is beautiful and a bit lighter than most so it's easy to carry. It has lots of storage cubbies that turn out to be part of the case! So the case becomes built in and sleek. It is better than my Brother for straight sewing - you can select the type of fabric and stitch you are going to do and it sets up all the rest. It sets pressure foot tension, tells you the foot to use, sets stitch length and all. All settings are changeable if the user wants, but I find them perfect so far. This will even sew leather and has a preset button for that! I find the manual less than complete, but you tube covers everything you would ever need to know. In my opinion this is not a machine you should open and begin using without reviewing at least a couple of videos even if you are familiar with sewing. This machine is powerful with many options but you should understand them first. Again, my opinion. Compared to my previous machine, this sounds and feels like driving a Ferrari. ... show more

  • Terrible machine, even for entry level embroidery
I have nothing but frustration working with this machine. The lighting is bad, the overhead area to insert needles, unscrew the base plate is small, too small even with my small hands and a short screwdriver. The needle threader does not work with needles smaller than an 80/12 yet the slot to insert a needle period is a battle just to get a 90/14 in. I have to lay the machine down to force and jiggle the needle in. The embroidery arm is very loud. This machine 'eats' garments like no tomorrow. I have tried too many different methods and stabilizers and I have nothing but problems getting gummed up or broken threads. I clean it regularly and change the needle but still have more problems than the machine is worth. I had it serviced and the result was to buy the new 'sensor Q foot' for embroidery and not use the one that came with the machine. Using it, still problems. I do not recommend this machine. I'm glad I still have my made in Sweden Viking Interlude to keep me sewing. ... show more

  • Love it!. Good Entry Level Machine Except for the Software Cost
I love this machine. It's compact and light compared to my older machine. I bought it from a Husqvarna Viking Dealer in my area and not from Amazon so I can't speak on shipping conditions. The button for doing a back stitch is in an awkward position on the machine, but you'll get used to it in time. I haven't had the opportunity to test the embroidery feature yet, so I'll update this post sometime in the future. My only major concern that I wish I knew before buying this machine was the price for embroidery software to properly edit the 72 existing motifs that you get. I probably would have bought a much cheaper or maybe a comparable brother or singer. Just for those of you who are thinking about this machine, the software costs for Premier + is upwards from about $2000 (That's my rent for a single semester of college -.-). Again, had I known I would have bought a different machine. ... show more

  • Out of Warranty - out of luck!
When I first bought my machine, I was really impressed. Viking has free design software - very impressive for a machine at this price. I have had my machine for almost 2 years, and I have helped sell quite a few at my local quilt shop. Now I have problems. Sometimes the start/stop button won't work. Now the speed control does not work at all. Hmmm, just out of warranty. I have another Viking and I took it in to be cleaned and, when I got it home, it was still dusty and the machine was full of fuzz. They charged me $75.00 for a cleaning that never happened. Now I am having problems with the embroidery unit and I will not take it back to the same serviceman. Problem is - he is the only one for 35 miles. I will have to pay for the part, the "cleaning", and the travel to find a decent repairman. I spent $1,700.00 for an embroidery machine that may end up just a glorified sewing machine. Not good Viking. They need to put better quality and make their machines to last or I will go purchase a Brother. ... show more

  • Not an entry level machine. Over hyped.
This machine stays in repair shops more than out. Bobbin tension nonfunctioning. I liked it for sewing but it's embroideryerformance is a 1 at best. I have been sewing for over 50 years and I can't wait to replace it and don't even care if I do embroidery anymore. Very disappointed.

  • very hard machine to use
This machine is always breaking down, is very difficult to use and has way too much over kill functions. I will never buy a HV machine again.
