The texture is pretty soft but the head doesn't collapse and it's light in weight. It seems like it's fairly true to size. My child is in 24 months clothes so I ordered up a size (as I usually do) and it's slightly big on them. I'd rather it be a little big than slightly too small. The colors are nice and vibrant. The foot area of the costume acts as a cover that goes over your child's shoes. I'm not 100% sure how convenient or inconvenient this will be. I feel it may trip my little one but we'll see. I appreciate that it's separate, that way it's optional to use. I haven't seen many people mention the zipper, so I will here. The zipper goes from the ankle/foot area up to the neck area and has a fabric flap that covers it so it won't bother your little one as they move about. When taking the costume off (or if your little one needs a diaper change) the zipper can be completely undone, meaning 1 leg will be in the costume and the other leg is free. This was my son's first Halloween and this fit so nicely. He was 7 months at the time and the sizing was perfect! The feet are detached so for a baby that's not walking yet was kind of a bummer. I was hoping it was more of a footie pajama style for the baby sizes but that's my fault for assuming. They booties kept falling off but the quality of the costume is way better than I expected. We live in Virginia so fall and winter is usually mild and this was plenty warm enough. He didn't need anything under it. Its like a velvet texture and has a liner inside. Super cute! I was astonished how great this costume was for the price. It is very thick so don't wear it if you're in warm weather, but it's made well and it looks awesome.
