Just got my hurricane ukulele. It is a thing ‘O beauty in a wild kinda way. My only complaint is that the action is pretty high but my goodness. It’s a ukulele. I can still play it easy. I might try filing the bridge but I don’t want to mess up the intonation which is great! Mine came with 2 strap buttons. Yes I read all the reviews before I purchased. Also came with tuner,strap,an exceedingly good gig bag etc. The tuners are excellent! Like really excellent. The tone is pretty good but I kinda think it’s gonna get a lot better with time and settling in the strings,etc. The strings are not tied down. I haven’t loosened them enough but apparently they tie on or something inside the body. I’ll figure it out. But for right now, if I got a guitar with this high action, I’d say no way. But seriously it doesn’t matter. It’s beautiful, it’s wild, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me. I got the spalted maple. It’s really beautiful. ... show more

I wanted a new concert ukulele that had a strap. My current one is for beginners. After I read all the reviews I decided to purchase this concert professional ukulele. Comfortable to hold. Frets smooth. Aquila strings easy on my 74 year old fingers. I like the strap which was easy to install. At times when standing up to play keeps ukulele from sliding around. I like the sound too. I am a member of a ukulele group and we perform out in the community. The only thing I don’t like are the tuning pegs. Can see the gears. Most are covered to make a nicer appearance. But they are easy to use, unlike my beginner ukulele. Overall I am happy with my purchase. ... show more

I sell ukuleles on the side as a hobby. I find really nice quality ukes at a discount, set them up properly and sell them locally. I CAN'T SELL THESE!!! This is not the first time I've visited this brand. I've had very good experiences with this brand, until now! I do recommend trying all their other ukuleles, but unfortunately, not this one! I just can't recommend it when I get two bad ones in a row! I previously bought a persimmon (dark brown) and a spalted maple. Those were of excellent quality. I'm sorry to say that on the last two of these that I ordered (Koa/Acacia), the abalone fret markers are of absolute horrible quality! Half of them are muddy and washed out and you can barely see them! The other half are glaring bright! I don't understand why they would assemble them in this fashion. Normally, markers of this poor quality would be discarded! It absolutely ruins the appearance of an otherwise beautifully crafted ukulele! There are also shiny marks on the fretboard by the dull ones like they tried to polish them. You can't! It's the way abalone is. That's why you sort it and discard the bad markers! A few of the markers were not even flush with the surface. They were raised. The people assembling the fretboards must be locked in a dark closet, completely blind or just utterly incompetent! Have they no final inspection process? There's an inspection sticker. Maybe the inspector is blind. It just doesn't make sense at all! To ruin such a beautiful ukulele with sub par fret markers is just a total waste of product. Also, the first one I received had very corse and obvious sanding marks on the fretboard curving in an arc from the center to outside. This was obviously done before the fret wire was installed! As a result, I've lost faith in the manufacturing quality of this particular ukulele, not the entire line, at least for now. I'll try again at some point in the future. I'm sure that eventually, they'll get rid of the bafoon who is responsible for this travesty! This bad experience aside, I do recommend their ukuleles which do not include the abalone fret markers. ... show more

I am a high school teacher of 30+ years and for the first time ever am facilitating several independent studies classes. One young man selected the music industry careers as his topic for the semester. I asked if he played an instrument and his response of "no, but I want to" started a group quest to find what might work for him. Fairly soon I was working with half a dozen students wanting to try the Ukulele. One of the young men said he know someone who could play and would ask him to come to teach some of the basics. He agreed and the quest for instruments began. After several days of research, begging family and friends to help, we finally received a couple of classroom instruments. One teacher, six students, and 2 ukuleles make learning next to impossible. One of the girls told me she found the ukulele she was going to get for class. Her eagerness to share the find caused me to slow down and take a look. She had actually found a ukulele that was not too expensive and looked a lot better than the "toy" ones she first wanted. I agreed to order it for her and she could pay me back in installments. Fast-forward to now, I also learned that the young man who was teaching us had a bumper sticker on the back of his ukulele that covered the rather large crack which happened when he either dropped it or his sister sat on it. He liked the Tenor size because of his "sausage fingers" and the sound, so I ordered THIS Ranch Tenor with him in mind. I wish I would have recorded his first reaction to this Ukulele. He was very surprised to find out how much I paid and kept reinforcing his Hawaiian ukulele was three times that amount. HE LOVED THE SATIN FINISH because he has sweaty hands and the high gloss varnish causes a slippery grip. His praise of the Ranch ukulele has not stopped since the first day I let him play it. Ukulele fever is spreading and I believe we have found one of the BEST Beginner Ukuleles Amazon has to offer.
