Description

This book is for newcomers to the exciting art and science of saltwater pier fishing. Particularly in the Fairhope, Alabama, area. However, the material contained can be utilized on just about any saltwater fishing pier. All that changes is the species of gamefish and bait utilized. One will learn the minimal equipment needed to saltwater fish like a local as well as practical tips and tricks to catch and land the “big one.” The author, himself, has caught many a large redfish with standers-by asking what all he utilized. Thus, this book is more geared to catching the larger species than anything else. Although, one never knows what one will catch on some days in Mobile Bay, Alabama. After reading this work one should be able, with practice, to fish as good as a local and know the right questions to ask when purchasing gear or fishing the Pier. There is nothing like catching a huge saltwater gamefish for the first time—it is a memory that will last a lifetime. Read more

  • Author knows his stuff
I thought this guy did a good job of sharing his knowledge about fishing the Fairhope pier. It's common to see people who've fished for bass in freshwater lakes show up and throw a lure or plastic worm in the water using light duty gear, because they have no experience with this kind of fishing. If you want to go after the big fish in Mobile Bay, what this book contains will get you a lot closer to it. ... show more

  • Endless website urls
I was excited to get this book, I wish I would’ve read the reviews. It’s double (maybe triple) spaced and looks like it was published from a word processor. There are errors in the graphics, and pages are full of web links, some of which are 3-4 lines long. The whole thing looks like a rushed term paper that had a page requirement vs word count. Moreover, it doesn’t appear to have an original idea anywhere. I’m promptly returning this. ... show more

  • Worth the cost
It mostly covers what we know already. But it has three or four tricks that were new to me, at least. I fish the West coast but the advice applies just the same.

  • Okay book, but very MESSY!
I got this book because I am a complete beginner and the other reviews were good. I don't see how this book could have 5 stars with it being so messy. I wouldn't be surprised if the other ratings are friends of the author. Looks like a school report done in Word with a bunch of links. I don't think anyone is going to be typing in these really long links into their browser. That is something for a PDF book. Not a printed book. Just very messy. ... show more

  • Invaluable For The Beginner Pier Fisherman
This book contains a huge amount of information and tips for the novice Fisherman. This book will get me into the game instead of watching on the sidelines

  • Great information, easy read
David has given an encyclopedia of information in a short easy to read format. It includes any web site you might need to further your research and an easy to follow format for the equipment and techniques to help catch fish. Although it is rather focused on the Fairhope, AL area, the information is valuable for most all saltwater fishing and worth the time to add to your fishing knowledge. You won't go wrong picking up this one and spending a couple hours reading a well researched account of what it takes and how to fish the Fairhope pier and saltwater in general. ... show more

  • This is a joke gift right?
The $12 paper copy is 56 pages of double spaced nonsense that literally consists of URL's. The only reason I am not returning is because it will make a great gag gift for someone that clearly knows more than the author. My disappointment is endless, and my day is ruined. Merry Christmas.

  • Great information!
This is a great "how to" book for newcomers to saltwater pier fishing. Although specific to the Fair Hope, Alabama area (super for people seeking tips on fishing this particular area), the tips/tricks and information is applicable anywhere for saltwater fishing. Save yourself the time researching the gear needed--this book provides the information with handy references. Concise and to the point--a great reference. Highly recommend for those new to the sport. ... show more
