I was always worrying about watering my indoor plants. This meter has a great website that gives you information about moisture,pH, and proper light needed for most popular indoor plants. Just make sure you follow the directions,and always put it away clean and dry.

Mostly works. The light feature has never worked and I’m not sure the PH does either. It reads the same in every single plant I’ve gotten, even new ones from nurseries that I haven’t watered yet. So…again, not sure. But the moisture feature is SO helpful and has helped keep me from over-watering.

    • You have to insert the gage into 3 different section to know if it really needs water.
One day it will read dry and the next day moist. I do like that it at least give you several different readings for each plant.

Just got this and couldn't wait to try it. Followed instructions and only put it 2 inches down in soil not root ball... waited 10 seconds and it said the plant was a 1 (I watered the plant yesterday morning and topsoil was damp to the touch) dbl checked it was switched to soil, it was. Checked a plant I just watered 20 mins ago and it said it was dry too... stuck my old one in next to it and as you can see from the picture, something isn't right with the new water meter. Idk about PH but the light one appears to work correctly as I tested it in house and under a plant light... since I got this mostly for my water finicky FLF I'm pretty disappointed. ... show more

    • Just read the instructions before using
Most of these negative reviews are from people that did not read the instructions written in bold on the back. They literally tell you 4 times, but you are suppose to use it only for about 10sec in the soil to get a basic reading on your soil levels. It also recommends using it in 3 places to get a more accurate reading. It will break if you leave it in the soil, as metal rusts when left in a moist or wet environment (duh?) works great! ... show more

I've been following basic plant care advice for the past few years: putting plants near or far from windows based on the available information, using the "fingertip test" to water, and going to the internet to diagnose any plants that seemed less than healthy. I had NO idea how much I was stressing my plants until I started using this meter. My "intuition" was resulting in both overwatering and underwatering, and at least one plant was getting way less light than it needed! After a few weeks of using this meter, my houseplants (two huge peace lilies, a mid-size fiddle leaf fig, several succulents, and a gold dust plant) are visibly healthier: glossier, perkier, and with fewer leaf flaws. They're putting on much more spring growth than they have in several years. I am glad I bought this gizmo literally every day as I see my plants flourish. 10/10 recommend. ... show more
