  • Does what it suppose to do
I give it a 5 star because it does what it’s suppose to do at a reasonable price. I’ve had this for 3 months now and it still works great. Are there better and more expensive options out there? Yes. But this offers basic fairly reliable info for what you need at a great price. It should serve well for most gardening and houseplant hobbyists. ... show more

  • Good product with excellent customer service
It is simple and easy to use at a competitive price. The pH function is the most useful, it provides an approximate pH for soil. I use it in my high, low, and neutral pH gardens as needed to make adjustments or confirm my suspicions about changes in pH while growing. The light function works well in full spectrum light, less so in grow lights of varying spectrums. I have not used the moisture function of this product, so I have no comment. The construction is good enough for most of my gardening needs I would not use it in rocky or dry clay soil types. For the price point, it's economical and meets my needs very well for approximating soil pH. On that note, it is not a several hundred dollar pH meter with accuracy out to the tenths or hundredths place, it is also not for hydroponic gardens as noted in the user manual. It is, however, a great soil pH meter that gives me an approximate pH in my gardens. When I had an issue with the meter, I contacted customer service through Amazon, listed my problem in detail, and received a response in less than a day. After a brief conversation, the seller sent me a new pH meter that arrived a few days later, that is what great customer service looks like. ... show more

  • Perfect - for about a year at least
I really love these things. Easy to use and easy to read, but I swear the moisture reader stops working after a year. It also seems to struggle more in some soils than in other. The pH reader rarely works. It puts everything at a 7, even when a soil test comes back with something different. The light meter is a great, but not something I use very often. ... show more

  • Elevate your plant and garden game!
Let me start by saying, if you're passionate about gardening and want to take your green thumb to the next level, or you're newer to plants/gardening and want to break your murderous plant streak - this 3-in-1 soil tester is an absolute must-have! the convenience and efficiency it offers are unmatched. With just one tool, I can quickly and accurately assess three crucial factors for plant health: soil moisture, light levels, and pH levels. This means no more guesswork or relying on intuition – I can make informed decisions about watering, placement, and soil amendments, ensuring my plants receive the optimal care they deserve. The ease of use is another standout feature. Simply insert the probe into the soil, and within seconds, you'll receive clear and precise readings on the easy-to-read dial. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or a novice, this tool makes it effortless to monitor and adjust conditions to meet your plants' needs. But what truly sets this 3-in-1 soil tester apart is its versatility. Whether you're growing vegetables, flowers, herbs, or houseplants, it's suitable for use in any type of soil or growing environment. I also appreciate the durability and reliability of this soil tester. Made from high-quality materials, it's built to withstand the rigors of regular use without losing accuracy or effectiveness. Plus, the long probe allows for easy access to deeper soil layers, ensuring comprehensive readings for optimal plant health. Don't sleep on this tool - I can't believe I managed without it for so long! ... show more

  • At home testing and results NOT AN ACCURATE PH TESTER
I did some at home very rough at home testing before putting out in the garden. Moisture Meter First I put the instruments in a cup of water as a baseline for the moister meter. The needle immediately jumped to a 10, once again confirming the age old adage that water is wet. I then proceeded with testing the moister meter with paper towels of various dampnesses. The moister meter did a well enough job at indicating dampness. Light detector: I took the light detector outside on a clear day at noon to get a baseline measurement. The detector maxed out at 2000. I then tested various shades outside and inside. My findings seem to indicate that the light meter is less accurate than the moisture meter. It detects direct sunlight, slight shade, and indirect sunlight relatively well, but medium/low light shade and indoor lighting was not detected at all. PH Meter For the PH meter I used a neutralized solution of distilled white vinegar and sodium bicarbonate for a baseline. The baseline PH was slightly above 7 but good enough for a neutral reading. I washed the meter off and then put it in a cup of pure white vinegar and got a reading of 5, two whole integers above the actual PH of white vinegar. I then put the meter in a saturated aqueous solution of sodium bicarbonate and got 7.5 as the result, one whole integer below the actual ph of the bicarbonate solution. In general it looks like the meter is good enough to tell you wether your soil is acidic or basic but not to be trusted with anything close to an accurate, numbered, measurement. Though not as accurate as I hoped the instrument is still good enough for the price for general garden measurement with the one caveat being that I wouldn’t trust the PH meter if you need an exacting measurement of soil ph. For that I would get ph paper, it’s cheap, accurate, and easy to read. ... show more
