I was surprised at how hot these actually get. When there's at their hottest, they're too hot for me to hold in my hand for long. I didn't try them in my pocket in the winter to warm my hands so in that case the heat might not be too much. I'm going to use them for under my blanket this winter because I don't want to leave a propane heater running all night long, and I wanted to see how hot they get and how long they stay hot. They can lose some heat after awhile but when you take them out, shake them a bit, they reactivate and get just as hot as they were before. I didn't check the clock but I think I pulled one out at around 9 or 10 pm, and in the morning, I could still shake it and it would still activate. It will work great for what I need. ... show more

Kept my hands warm while watching football outdoors in New England weather. I don't think it lasted for 18 hours but it lasted long enough. I'd rather have this size for my hands than the normal one.

I used to buy the hand warmers that were like an inch and a half by 3. I specifically look for the super warmers because working outside in the winter in the wind and sometimes at night they work great. They stay warm for a full shift and then some.
