  • Honda quality: unbeatable.
Honda engineering has worked out all the fussy details of power mowing: quality cut, durability, and ease of use. Simple assembly after delivery. Started on the second pull. Abundant power to cut and propel through thick grass, bagger fills completely, easy to feather the variable speed control to match your pace. Long oil fill tube simplifies oil changes - just tip the mower on its side and drain; this should encourage more frequent oil changes that is the single most important maintenance item in prolonging mower life. No throttle or choke - just a reliable starter and comfortable governed speed. Ball bearing wheels, duel blades for superior cut quality. Big gas tank opening that makes filling easy. Durable belt drive to the rear wheels gives great traction over varied terrain. Recommended. ... show more

  • Great mower
Light and powerful. Use it to cut 2 acres, takes me 4 hours but she cuts and runs like a dream. Starts on every pull. Started on my first pull out of the box. The only thing I wished it had was bigger back wheels. Other than that, she has made nowing a lot easier and faster. It can go fast if you want it to. But it is so light be careful you can pop a wheelie if you have it going to fast for you to keep up! So far no issues with the plastic body. ... show more

  • Very powerful
Just bought a few weeks ago and used it yesterday for the first time. Wow, it is fast and powerful. Gone for a few weeks, leaving after weeks of rain, then the weeds and prairie grass really took hold. Mowing yesterday, cutting 18-24" high weeds/grass like a champ; it slowed the engine down but it did not stall (I had the wheel height at max ~ 4"). Self propelled, range from min to max. I ran it just past min and it can move fast. I walk at 4 mph and at the slow end I could barely keep up. Starting is very easy; one very light tug over a few inches of the start cable and it purrs. I run it on mulch cycle; minimal residue after the cut. Turns very easily. Time will tell about its durability but so far very impressed by its power and ease of use. ... show more

  • A fantastic mower!
Absolutely the best mower I have ever owned. I bought it in August 2016, so I've had enough time to get a good feel for it. The rear-wheel drive is great; when the bag starts to get full/heavy, you don't lose traction, and if you keep the drive engaged on left-turns it will push through the turns for you. If you sharpen the blades (two-blade system!) one to four times a year, your lawn will look like you cut it with a laser. That comes in pretty handy if you cut your grass high. Typically, the higher you cut grass, the more difficult it is to get a good-looking cut. Dull blades and/or a low-powered engine can end up just chewing your grass, which looks bad and is hard on the grass. With sharp blades, that's not a problem at all for this mower. As far as starting the mower is concerned, I would say that at least 95% of my starts have been on the first pull, the rest on the second. It's never needed three, which kind of surprised me after sitting in the garage all winter. This mower makes the actual 'mowing' part of lawncare so easy that it's almost an afterthought. Just start it up, and follow behind. ... show more

  • 5 years of reliable ownership with some recent issues
This mower is powerful and cuts the grass into small bits due to its dual-blade system. For the first 3.5 years I used this mower (typically every 4-7 days from March-December) it was issue-free. In the past 1.5 years of ownership, I am struggling with the well-known rear wheels issue(s). There are videos all over YouTube detailing how the rear axle can become corroded and lock up such that pulling the mower backwards is very difficult. I haven't had this issue to an extent that warrants opening the mower and cleaning/replacing parts. I have had issues with the self-propelled capabilities, specifically loss of drive velocity. When new, this thing clips along at a very brisk pace. Over the years, it loses speed. Again, not enough to warrant opening the mower and performing surgery, but enough to be a nuisance. The current issue is that the rear wheels lock up completely when pushing the mower forward (and not using the self-propel). This makes turns impossible and the entire mower becomes a heavy sled. I will now have to open the underside and explore whether or not this can be fixed. I suppose 5 years from this unit isn't horrible, but it isn't great. My last mower (no self-propel) lasted twice as long with no major issues. Given the widespread drive/pullback/locking wheels issue, I can't recommend this mower. When it works and when it's new, it's great, but then it becomes a hassle to work with or attempt to fix. ... show more
