The backing is a jute type material. I have not experienced any shedding. Seems to be of good quality. Plush and comfortable to walk on. Color is as pictured. I suggest putting non skid pad (s) under it to stop it from sliding around on a hard floor. Only issue I have had to date is the rug is shipped tightly rolled and it has been difficult to remove the roll indentations. I am overall pleased with this rug and look forward to years of use. ... show more

It's our cats rug, so we could put all the paper bags in recycling as he likes to go skidding across our wood floors 😁Narrow enough it's not on our way. Nap is great, it's not a trip hazard and well made so his claws don't get caught up. Not recommended for other purposes unless you put skid proof on bottom. Washes well, dries fast. ... show more

Rug is nice, but thinner than expected. The backing is very stiff and slides very easily on my hardwood floors. And, it was rolled backwards (pattern inside) during shipping, so the ends are taking forever to lay flat as they are severely curled up. Right now, I've got cinder blocks on two of the ends, holding it down against some anti-skid pads I purchased separately. I'd be willing to pay more for better quality next time. ... show more
