  • Worth Reading!
I was recommended this book through a YouTube channel I subscribe to on homeownership and parenting. I am preparing to buy a home soon and enjoyed hearing about this book. The delivery was quick might I add and so far I enjoy the contents. It can be read straight through or referenced as tips along your journey. The authors do a great job at casually yet instructionally guiding through best practices, things you need to know and warnings. Great starter and reference point to add to your research on how to buy a home. Especially first timers like myself. ... show more

  • ... perfect" guide to buying a home this is a good book for you
If you're looking for a "all conditions are perfect" guide to buying a home this is a good book for you. It is easy to read, gives plenty of examples and takes you step by step. If you live in an area where even the wealthy struggle to make ends meet, you know you aren't paying off your student loans within the next 10-15yrs and the idea of having $88K on stand-by for emergencies is all kinda ridiculous...this book is not for you. ... show more

  • First time home buyer...
As a first time home buyer I found this book very informative. Although, I have not actually bought my first home yet, or even gone out to search for a home. This book has given me some confidence in buying my first home.

  • Fully satisfied
This is a perfect book for first-time home buyers in the U.S. Simple to understand but well written. My perception of ”For Dummies” was improved as a result, and now I want to check out other titles in the series to learn more about all kinds of interesting stuff. It’s like taking crash courses on life skills you should’ve learned in school but somehow never didn’t. ... show more

  • Terrible Table of Contents, okay info.
On my kindle app the "parts" are all that is listed in the table of contents. These are huge sections with vague names that make it almost impossible to find what you want. I did just find a list of the list of cgapters and their contents inside the book, still wish it was part of the table in the menu. Hopefully ill be ablebto find some more info now. ... show more

  • Stop. If you're buying your first home, buy this one.
Just bought a home. I see there is a "mortgages for dummies" and a few other related titles. However, this book really has all you need. And, I read everything the realtor sent. THAT is A LOT of reading (every word of every contract, of every statement). The moral: just be informed and this book, like all of Mr. Tyson's books, will do that for you. ... show more

  • Perfect to read before buying a house
This book is something you'll want to read in the months and years before buying a house for the first time. I read from cover to cover and learned many things that prepared my husband and me for our house hunt. We were able to prepare all documents in advance and make life much easier for our realtor and mortgage lender, which led to great service, prompt communications, and quick turnaround. I highly recommend this book for anyone ready to buy. ... show more
