  • If You Are in Pain - Get This Book
I am a Holistic Consultant, a Hypnotherapist, and a Reiki teacher. I just taught my first "Hypnosis for Pain" class. Everyone in the class is suffering from chronic pain. I recommended this book because it addresses so many facets of pain and healing naturally. Additionally, it informs about the limits of traditional medicine when it comes to treating pain. What to do when your doctor tells you he has done all he can and now you will have to learn to live with it. If you are in pain of "any" kind this is a must read book. It can change not only the way you look at pain but also how you can learn to live with it and enjoy life. I highly recommend this book. It is well written, documented, and current in the information. ... show more

  • Understandable and very helpful guide to pain management.
Dr Tick has a unique grasp of both traditional medicine and proven alternative methods of more than just pain relief. Her practical suggestions provide solutions that include traditional medicine with management of all aspects of good physical and mental health...all of which add to the complete continuing good health. Chronic pain extends further than just "where it hurts", and Dr Tick provides very smart, helpful and easily implemented suggestions for pain relief, avoidance of continuing problems and just good general health care. I can only imagine how many people she has helped, if not saved over the years. This book is my new favorite gift to those I know who are trying to manage pain and injury!! ... show more

Love that this book covers such a broad range of items that can influence pain. Very common sense and it feels like the average person can make changes that will help. Some books have good information, but seem extreme and I would think difficult for the average person to adhere to for any length of time. ... show more

  • Help for Chronic Pain and Inflamation
Was a skeptic at beginning but I needed help, I have degenerative disc disease and recently had back surgery #5 to fuse L2-S1. My Doc highly recommended I read and with his help come up with alternative ways to help with my pain and inflamation because the standard pain medicines will not work for me. After reading I learned a lot about nutrition, herbs and vitamins and the effect they can have on a person's system. After reading and guidance by my Doc, I opted to try eliminating nightshade, sugar and splenda, etc from my diet. I introduced Tumeric, Magnesium, Winter Cherry, Bosweilla & some other herbal and vitamin supplements to gradually replace the pharmaceutical medicines. This is not a quick fix and like any addict, there's withdrawal, especially the sugar and splenda part. Eliminating the nightshade is very difficult too but did I want to feel better and live and not be depressed or just exist. It was the choice set before me. I had to be very strict with myself and change my nutritional habits drastically. I can tell you it's worth it. I'm not completely pain free but I'm off all pharmaceutical pain medicines and no OTC medicine's like ibuprofen or Tylenol. My weight has dropped from 279 to 247 and my waist from 41 to 37 inches. I'm not as depressed and my friends and family constantly coment that they notice the difference both physically and personality wise also. I highly recommend this book for anyone with chronic pain, arthritis, etc. and work with your healthcare provider to come up with your individual plan. It's not an overnight solution and there's trial and error but when you get the right combination of nutrition and supplements your body needs you'll feel so much better. I have to be clear, this is more expensive than regular medicine and a lot is not covered by most insurances. Do you want to reduce your pain and truly live or just complain and stay the same. The choice is yours. ... show more

Very well written and very comprehensive. Unfortunately, the suggestions/recommendations seemed totally overwhelming - I had great difficulty believing that people were actually able to use this book as a guide for changing their lives and especially their dealings with pain. I got more depressed the more I read. My doctor who had recommended this book was so positive about it and there was just nothing in it that I could relate to, imagine using, or even think of a way to somehow make work for me. Very disappointing. ... show more

  • Good starting manual
This is most useful for those who already started their holistic relief process. I have been on a journey for a few years and have what author calls my medical team (acupuncturist, massage therapist, yoga teachers and nutrition consultants) but still discovered a great deal of information about specific methods. The book will also be informative for people in denial about their own influence on their health, those who expect medication and doctors to heal them without lifting a finger themselves. It's factual, concise and easy to read. ... show more
