    • Hard to fault the product and the next day delivery!!

First things first. Turn off the "energy saver" function, if you do not the picture will look bad. Next thing I must say is the purchase and NEXT DAY delivery was one of the most pleasant buying experiences I have had in my 83 yrs ! This is a first impressions not a full review that will follow later. I was a little disappointed when I first set the TV up and start looking at the picture. Looked good mind you be not "WOW' good if you get my drift. Did a search on YouTube and read a lot of reviews and tried various recommend set ups until I hit "FOMO" s review on this set. The guy looks a little out there but after you have put a few hours on your set follow his set recommended you will join the "WOW" club. Keep in mind what your payed for this TV when I say this but putting that aside I am still a very happy camper. I was reluctant to buy this TV early on because of possible reliability issues but the latest CR reviews showed all the Hisenses had better than average reliability and the 2 year warranty allowed me to buy with confidence. One more thing. I wear hearing aids and the sound coming out of this TV is clear and very loud and there is even a little bass! Unless a "bug" bites this is a keeper. Get one, if your TV is like my example and you follow "FOMO" set up settings you will be "WOWED". I will do a update if this happens but Amazons 30 day return policy will be there if this should be the case. Update: Ran into a little shortcoming using the ARC function. Once activated I always had my Sony AV receiver activated when the TV was turned on. I find the TV sound system excellent for casual use and had to figure out how to disable the ARC system when I wanted and reactivate when needed. $ 4.00 for a small power strip with a rocker on and off switch solved the problem. When I kill the power to my AV receiver which is plugged into the power strip it deactivates the receiver and TV sound system is all that will output. When I want to fire up my receiver I just flip the power on switch on the power strip BEFORE turning the TV and when you turn on the TV your AV receiver will be activated. Problem solved. Still really happy with the picture on this TV but I made a couple of adjustment to brightness and contrast and made a great picture even better. Bottom line do not be afraid to fine tune your base line set up to compensate signal input quality and your "eyes". Update 3/12/24 My example of this TV has shown a gradual improvement in picture quality over the last 30 days. This is not unusual for hi tech electronic devices but in this case it was very noticeable. This would explain why people see a examples of a TV at a big box store that has had run time on it,buy one and are disappointed when the unbox their new TV and fire it up. So how does this effect my first impressions of this fine TV ? Note a bit it just makes my very positive first impressions all the more positive and frankly I have nothing negative to add to that. I would buy it again in a heart beat. 7/21/24 This has been one of the best TV's I have owned to date. This includes Sony.Samsung and JVC to name a few.     • A Lot Of TV For The Money, BUT! (Update: 10/10/2024) (New Update 11/28/2024)

11/28/24 UPDATE: Hard to believe... As I was mentally considering my options, it kept getting harder and harder to turn this thing on! I had what I'm calling a brainstorm that I'm pretty proud of at this point. I really didn't want a tech to come out and try to fix it, and I SURE didn't want to send it to wherever Hisense would want me to send it to, that's close to DelUhWhere. I said to myself: "Self? What if it doesn't like something about the USB drive(s)??" When the TV had been off all night, I was going to just remove the USB drives and see what happened. BOTH Of the USB drive were VERY warm to the touch!! I removed one and it turned right on!! After turning it on and off a few times, I ended up leaving that USB drive out, and the TV worked flawlessly from then on!! OMG! The next day, I looked through the docs and found the 'USB drives' section. I had put two 256 GB USB in there and I now replaced the one I had removed with a128 GB USB drive. The TV still worked flawlessly! That was all about 15-20 days ago. So, now, working flawlessly, it has a 256 GB USB drive and a 128 GB USB drive. I'm too sick and tired to narrow it down more at this point, but how insidious is this?!!? Maybe someone else can narrow it down further, but there are two notes here: 1) The docs say only 128 GB, not 256 GB; and the TV won't do exFAT - only NTFS and FAT32. So, pay attention when inserting USB drives! (And it worked flawlessly for MONTHS with both 256 GB drives installed before this happened!!) It's buried about halfway through the big, long doc. 2) If the stupid thing won't turn on, remove the USB drives and see if that fixes it. Holy CRAP, Batman! Technically, I disregarded the doc, but what a nasty thing to have it do! How about "USB Drive Not Recognized" error ->AFTER THE TV TURNS ON<- or something?!? And then, the docs say, "8T hard drive is also supported." What does that even MEAN??? A spinny hard drive?? An 8 TB SSD plugged into a USB adapter?? A Little help here! I'm sticking with 4 stars because of this; pretty wild and crazy. In fact the more you know about computers, the crazier this seems. They can make it support 8TB, but not 256 GB??? Be ready for it!! And what are the USB drives doing when the TV is off, making them almost hot to the touch? If I get good and bored someday, I might try to call them and find out if their support techs know anything. But it does have a really nice picture and really nice specs and features. It used to have 5 stars from me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 10/10/24 UPDATE: Now it doesn't want to turn on. It started all of a sudden 2 weeks ago. It will eventually, if you play with the remote for a long time, but it's getting worse. For awhile, I could hit the power button on the remote a few hours before I wanted to watch (it wouldn't turn on), and then later, when I turned it on to watch, it worked. I guess I get to find out how good their tech support and warranty support are. If it doesn't take the rest of my life, I'll try to leave another update after that. Minus one star for now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- For me, this TV was brought in a special Amazon delivery truck with two people in it. It was brought inside to the location of my choice. The bad news is the remote and the way they tried to get out of adding buttons. It's like a maze. I've gotten totally lost twice. All I wanted to do is watch my current favorite show. I think I've discovered that the "TV" is actually an app and it's in there with the inputs. It's like that throughout. It's almost like you have to print out the whole online manual and take it with you so you can refer to it when you want to watch TV. I HATE that it doesn't have a number keypad. You have to enter a channel number like on a Roku - going left and right to the number you want to enter and hitting OK. As far as I can tell, in the owner's manual, there isn't one picture of the remote. So, they give you an image of a key to hit that isn't even on the remote. Just... WHY?!?!? And even more puzzling: the remote is curved on the back. Most remotes aren't totally flat, but there's a section that's flat. This one is curved entirely and you HAVE to hold it with one finger so it doesn't roll OR you have to actually pick it up if you want to use it instead of just hitting a button on it wherever it's laying. Again... JUST WHY?!? I'd gladly pay even $50 more for a more usable remote. Worse than that, Hisense has so many models and so many different remotes, I don't dare buy one without trying it. I spent an hour or two looking through remotes. Fail. You need one that's infrared AND Bluetooth AND has a mic for voice control capability. So I called the tech support. The nice lady there was, as far as I could tell, clueless. It took a good 10 minutes of me trying to explain over and over that I wanted to know if a remote from one Hisense model would work on other Hisense models. After another half hour or so, ended up getting a link for an internet store that sells TV accessories. I HATE stuff that can't be solved. I'll probably have to go to Best Buy or something next time I'm out and pray there's someone there that really knows the Hisense models. Other than that, the TV is GREAT! There are suddenly two channels for the main channel. For example, there are two 10.1 channels and two channel 3.1 channels, etc. I'm assuming one of them is ATSC 3.0 (Next Gen) and one of them is ATSC 2. They show the same thing and they have different resolutions; one is mono and one is stereo. The BIG, BIG reason I bought this one is that it has an ATSC 3.0 tuner. I gritted my teeth and didn't knock it down a star for the remote because it's a really, REALLY good deal otherwise. The picture is REALLY good! The sound is very good - REALLY good for a flat panel TV. It has those four HDMI ports and two USB ports (one USB 3). I don't care about a lot of the other "features"; I didn't get a good antenna setup so I could pay some capitalistic greedy morons $30, $50, $100 a month or whatever, so I didn't even care that much, but you can watch a ton of stuff if you don't mind paying. All in all, not regrettable at all! One last thing: It was between this 65 inch U7 and a 55 inch U8. After some deliberation I got a 65 inch U7 instead of a 55 inch U8. As far as I could tell is that the maximum brightness on the U8 is 1500 and this one's only 1000. I couldn't really find any other differences. Trust me: It's bright enough!! Let me start by saying that I would’ve never considered buying a Hisense TV as this has been a lower budget brand in the past. But man is this a nice TV. I got this on Black Friday and for being an OLED TV you won’t get a cheaper TV for the features that are included. I don’t do a lot of gaming and don’t watch a lot of TV but appreciate and value these features when I do so I am by no means a visual snob. This TV comes with four HDMI 2.0 ports and has a variable refresh rate of 144 hz. The blacks are very dark, great bright, and the colors are vibrant and crisp. The Google OS is responsive and easy to use coming from a Roku tv and now prefer the Google over the Roku. I have a nice sound bar, so can’t comment on the sound but upon initial set up it sounded pretty decent. According to rtings.com scored very high and was rated higher than the TCL TV I was looking at. If you’re looking for a TV that you don’t use all the time this is going to be your best option at a very reasonable price point. ... show more
