  • 100" of TV immersion!
I mainly bought this because it was an all-in-one package and available at a good price. No need to shop for a projector and then shop for a screen. I went from a 65" LG OLED TV to this 100" Projector. The picture quality is great but not as good as an OLED. But I am not someone that can afford a 100" TV much less a 100" OLED TV, so this is great for the size and price. Visuals: As good as any 4k TV. This projector uses pixel shifting to achieve 4k. When I read up on this, I was skeptical, even more so when most will call it "True 4k" when it’s not. But after seeing it, it is indeed "True 4k" because I cannot, and I am not sure if any human can tell the difference. The picture quality is great when in a dark environment. It still looks great at night with the lights on. But during the day with all the windows open my picture does get washed out. It’s still watchable but the blacks do become noticeably grey. Audio: This is the only thing that surprised the hell out of me. Most TV manufacturers will try to tell you how great their audio is. But I am sure by now most of us don’t expect much and some that want better audio will need to buy a soundbar. Well, these guys were not lying about the audio. Its obviously not Home theater quality but I would say that there is no need for a soundbar. The audio is equal to or better than most soundbars. I wont be using the audio but I was definitely surprised how Setup: Drastically more difficult that just buying a TV and plugging it in. You must build the screen which was not terribly difficult but… a word of caution… to save yourself time and a headache, make sure that the screen is completely equal on all sides when installing the springs. You will either have problems putting on the frame or you will end up with a wrinkle in one of the corners when you turn the screen over after completing the job. Mounting the frame to the wall took time and getting the height of the projector and the screen correct took a lot of time to get it just perfect. Software: Android TV works great… but it can be very slow at times. On occasion I will press a button and nothing will happen for a few seconds. It hesitates and freezes in the menus as well as withing apps menus. But no issues when streaming. It does happen from time to time but it is still very usable and functional. My overall opinion: This is my first projector of any kind so I cant really compare it to others. But this is a great 100” TV that eliminates the necessity for a completely dark room that is typically needed for a projector. Good audio, great picture, good apps, and 100” of TV immersion! ... show more

  • Unreliable and complicated
The picture size is impressive. Everything else has been a major problem. I could never get the screen calibration set up right after many attempts so I am living with a border that doesn’t fill up the whole screen. During the day there is some fading on the screen from outdoor light that makes it difficult to see the picture. The smart functions of the TV are so laggy and slow they are almost unusable. The final straw after 7 months of ownership is that now I am getting several dead white pixels projected on the screen due most likely to overheating of the unit. It is my understanding that this cannot be fixed and will continue to get worse over time (it has). Save yourself a ton of time frustration and money and look at other options before buying. I wish I had. Update: I have been calling Hisense for 3 days now to get help resolving my issues. Every time I call they say someone will call me back. They even one time said that they are escalating the call and someone would be calling me in 10 minutes. Still no call back and my unit is under warranty. I am shocked at the lack of customer service. They obviously do not care about their customers. ... show more

  • Ambient Light Rejection Delivers|Really Crappy Smart TV App With No Software Updates
Visually, this is a great tv. Everything below the asterisk-line below is my original review. However, after nearly one year, this AndroidTV-based software has no downloadable updates, and it is one sorry Smart TV app. Separation is poor between the television controls and the Smart TV operation. Here is what I mean. When you first turn on the set, it is more or less unusable the first five minutes you try to use it. Notice that I didn't say "the first five minutes it's on". It's simply sluggish and non-responsive for those first five minutes you interact with it. If you power on the set, and wait 10 minutes before trying to do anything, the first five minutes will still be sluggish and non-responsive. Now, you could (and I have) use a different external Smart TV set top, like Apple TV or Roku, both of which can provide a very snappy interface pretty quickly after they are powered on. However, you still need to do things like adjust the volume or select your TV input source or change the picture mode (because the device does not hold settings, and randomly switches from "Vivid" to "Energy Saving" or "Theater Night") using the remote provided with the set. And those controls are useless for the first several minutes that you use them, just like the Smart TV app. If you can't adjust the volume or select a different input source because your crappy Smart TV software is still doing it's startup hangover, you are working with a terrible design. Lots of IOT devices are delivered with crappy software initially, but then you get bailed out when the manufacturer fixes the software. Not here. It can't find updates online, ever, even though it is connected to the internet, and has no difficulty streaming all kinds of content or downloading apps not pre-installed. Also, HiSense's website provides no alternate means or instructions for updating the software. Finally, the device occasionally overheats, and a throws a message on screen which says "Please switch on the self-cleaning mode to remove the dust, to prevent the TV from overheating." Search the documentation. Guess what. There is no self-cleaning mode. So, while it is truly a remarkable projector TV that can provide a bright clear picture no matter how many windows you have open on a sunny day, but it has major issues, many of which could be fixed by the manufacturer, but haven't been. ********* I have installed this on the main level of my house, which is open floor plan and windows on the three sides that the screen is not mounted on. It is perfectly bright in the middle of the day without the need to turn off lights or close blinds or windows. Ambient light rejection solves the problem, unique to projectors, of the image washing out due to ambient light. The big negative of this tv is that there is NO MENTION ANYWHERE that the screen requires a difficult, complex assembly project. It is a minimum two-person job. Most TV installers do not know how to assemble this type of screen. I found a smart installer who was willing to work through the manual and it took him and his helper (me) 4 hours to finish the job. However, once installed, it is wonderful TV. ... show more
