These brushes are pretty stiff. They don't work well for watercolor but I imagine would work far better with thicker, more viscous paints like oil or acrylic. Because of the microplastics, I am gradually moving away from acrylics but I think these will be great for the HIMI gouache paints. The stiffness gives EXCELLENT control for details, but it DIGS into my watercolor paints. They don't hold a lot of water either so these are less than ideal for that purpose. ... show more

I paint a lot of pottery and these brushes are great for lines and small areas or pieces. I didn't love the packaging, it has unnecessary straw or something in it.

Factoring in the price and intended target, I think this is a pretty great set. The construction on the brushes is really sturdy, feels durable. I've had no issues with shedding. I wanted some finer brushes for miniature painting, so far it works great for this. The brushes are on the smaller side (not SMALL but not towering like my watercolor sets) so I think they'd be appropriate for/kid friendly. The plastic is easy to clean up. The ferule isn't clamped and looks definitely more on the budget side so it's hard to say how long it'll last. I think I anticipate if these fail it'll probably be the ferule separating from the handle (based on construction appearance) but it looks like one that'd glue back together pretty well. These brushes are perfect for gouache or watercolor. They hold water fairly well and the synthetic bristles are soft and feel nice. The handles are also light and feel good in my hand. The packaging is pretty but the outer plastic that covers the cardboard with the brushes is open on both sides so it's slightly more annoying to store. The brush sizes are written on the handles too. The bristles come coated in something to keep them stiff until they interact with water, and are also wrapped up. I used these with the HIMI/MIYA gouache and they worked perfectly. ... show more

I'm happy with these brushes. None of them were misshapen, and they are all in thin, fine sizes that are great for small details. I've used mine with acrylics and they do tend to stain. But lots of brushes stain, so I'm not upset about that. What I like is how well they fir my hand and how nicely they let me get details. ... show more

These are nice little brushes that are ideal for detail work. I'm just a hobby watercolor painter, so these are perfect for me. These brushes seem pretty good and they have plastic handles. You get five sizes including 15/1, 10/1, 6/1.5, 8/1.5, and 10/1.8. The bristles seem durable and they aren't falling out. You can never have too many tiny detail brushes. I just tried these out for touching up the paint on some fake berries and they were perfect, the right level of pliant yet stiff enough that I could manage some lovely little sweeps and curls. They also seem to wash up easily with warm water and bronners soap. I am sure I should use a more professional product for washing these, but I've always had good luck with gentle soap and water. The smallest of these detail brushes is still a little bigger than the fine detail brushes I need for painting a miniature, but just by a smidge. The handles are nice too, the paint slid right off which is fabulous, I am a messy painter and I usually end with paint on the handles. ... show more
