My thoughts on this couch - there was a lot to like and quite a bit to be confused about. Getting the bad out of the way... 4 boxes were recieved. Virtually identical. Once everything was out of the boxes something was off. But we forged ahead. There were two different patterns to start also none of the couch sections were labeled according to the included instructions. On top of that, the two pieces that were labeled did not correspond to the letters that were mentioned in the instructions. What shouldve been F & G I recall, were labeled L & R. A head scratcher indeed. The instructions helped a little bit, they were clear but it got to a point where you forge ahead on your own until stuff matches up. Once we seperated everything we also realized one of the ottoman bases lacked legs to keep it off the ground. To boot, also noticed there were two identical ottomans for two different patterns. So We are short legs....no pun intended. Upon inspection, the rear of the couch section had what seemed like stain splotches? Couldve been a wet spot or grease related. Not massive but noticable under the light. Recap, one assembled had matching components. The other one does not and its missing ottoman legs anyway. As for the fabric, it could stand to be tighter stitched/bonded on some board parts. For the GOOD - Once you figure out the lettering on your own...it took roughly 15-20 minutes to assemble this. Yes, 2 people is better. No tools were needed and eveything essentially locked in place. I wish the arms of the couch felt sturdier. The base cushions of the couch are very firm and supportive, i wish the back cushions of this couch were the same as the base. Instructions state the back cushions would fluff up in 72 hours...3 days later they fluffed...but not drastically. Oddly enough, the cushion for the ottoman end is noticeably thicker than the other two base cushions also. So you sit just a tad higher on that end. Overall, this is a decent sectional that suffers from packaging that doesnt match and some decent but not awesome cushioning. Its easy to assemble, but may not necessarily feel like a primary living room piece. This would be great for a small home office or lounging area. I think the mediocore back cushions keep this from being 5 stars but it is comfortable to sit on otherwise. **UPDATE -Hillsdale sent out a replacement set of cushions. I questions asked. This couch was very easily assembled, although the instructions were a bit difficult to read and the pieces were labeled incorrectly with letters. We bought this with the hopes of it being a bit smaller so it could fit in our children’s playroom. It worked well because it is quite small. I wouldn’t recommend this couch for a big space. The bottom and back cushions are attached with a Velcro strip which makes me a little nervous. I’m hoping the cushions don’t slide after extended use. The bottom cushions are firm and square like whereas the back cushions are more like a softer pillow. I do wish they were the same. Overall the couch is quite comfortable and feels pretty sturdy once completely assembled. I think it will work well long term for where we have it, but might not be the best for someone using it daily. ... show more

    • Surprising! Comfortable, simple assembly

So the couch came in a large box and a smaller, but not small box. They were severely beaten-up in shipping, but I was pleased to find the contents were not in any way harmed. It seemed like there were a lot of pieces and assembly might be time consuming. However, it was neither difficult nor time consuming! It took me perhaps 20 minutes to assemble the couch and almost all of the parts hook or slide together. There were only four screws to tighten, and I suppose the feet to twist on as well. The couch itself (I went with gray) is a bit plain and the fabric looks like it might be more at home in an office. It seems like the fabric is durable though and I believe will hold up for some time. The seat cushions are firm and there are no springs, rather a slightly sprung deck which the cushions sit on. This has the advantage of not wearing out quickly as cheap springs always do. It wouldn't be difficult to replace the cushions, as the covers just zip on, if they were to wear out. Don't think about sitting on the arms though, too narrow and maybe not strong enough for extended wear in that way, though not many couches put up with that too long. The back cushions come vacuum sealed so take a few days to turn in to real cushions, but seem pretty comfortable and definitely squishier than the seat cushions. The chaise can be put on either side, or even in the middle if you wanted to do that. The couch is comfortable! It provides good support, but allows for slouching, laying diagonally, laying down, or using the chaise to lounge. No complaining came from the couch with 600 pounds of people and dog on it. I absolutely love this love seat! It is really well made. I have a small studio apartment so I needed something smaller than a sofa and this fits the bill nicely. It’s actually a bit bigger than I had imagined and I find it firm but comfortable. It is a little tricky to assemble if you are by yourself but I did it, so i think anyone probably can. The instructions were a bit confusing mostly because you have to figure out which part is which and although they are labeled in the instructions by letters “A,B,C” etc. the corresponding pieces are not labeled with the letters so you have to figure them out. Also. Couple of parts, brackets or whatever they are, are actually already attached and so I thought at first that I was missing parts but eventually I figured it out. It is a challenge to connect the base to each side arm and then put the back into place, but once done it is really simple to complete the rest and seems really sturdy. I haven’t bought much in the way of furniture, but to me this seems to be a good value for the price! Recommended! ... show more

You may notice from the photo that the two cushions and the ottoman don't match the color of the rest of the sectional sofa. This is being resolved by the vendor and does not factor into my review. The sofa has a nice modern look, that much you can see. What I am particularly impressed by is how easy it was to assemble. I have put together a lot of furniture over the years, and this was the easiest and yet sturdiest project I've taken on. I had it all together in about 15 minutes. The pre-installed bracket and locking ratchets make it so that most of the assembly simply involves sliding the pieces together until they lock. It required no force to assemble, AND it did NOT require ANY tools! However, I did use a coin to tighten a few plastic positioning screws (they are not necessary to the structural integrity of the sofa). The cushions are firm and supportive, but have enough surface give as to be comfortable and relaxing. It seems to be using layering to achieve this affect. The cloth is thick and uniform looking. It's upholstery cloth, so I wouldn't describe it as soft, but it's not rough either. It's just a normal texture. I highly recommend this sofa! ... show more

When picking a sectional, pay attention to the dimensions. It is really small, like a loveseat. Also, first I received one box with cushions. Later one more box with everything else, separately. This has not happened before.

Very easy to put together. No tools required so don't worry! At first it really looks like a LOT of work.. I promise it's really easy and the instructions are very simple. It's pretty small. Cushions are pretty stiff but I suspect they will soften up with use. Overall I really like the tray I ordered. The other colored cushions they sent I'm not a fan. *Update: customer service was friendly and were able to ship out replacement cushions and ottoman in the correct color. This process took about a week to finally ship. I have yet to receive the replacement parts but they have been shipped. The couch cushions have softened up some. Overall I think this is a nice couch given the no tool assembly and ship to your door option. *Update #2: well the replacement parts came in today... But they sent the wrong parts. We needed the matching cushions and ottoman. They sent another couch with 1 long cushion. So now I have 2 couches. 1 with mismatched cushions and 1 with missing cushions. ... show more

This is a really nice loveseat. Quality is very good and the style is great. Assembly was incredibly easy. No tools required and it took maybe 5 minutes to put the whole thing together by myself. Seriously one of the simplest assemblies ever. The cushions are firm and comfortable.
