I started looking for a bumper/bed rail for my daughter’s toddler bed after she rolled out of bed one night. Because she is in a toddler bed, a lot of the fold down rails looked like they would be bulky and awkward (especially since it isn’t too far off of the ground). We have a couple other Hiccapop products that we really like, so when I found this bumper I bought it immediately. In the box, the bumper was vacuum sealed and rolled tightly. As soon as I opened the sealed bag, the bumper immediately inflated to full size. I did leave it sitting on top of the bed for a couple of hours, to make sure it was completely fluffed. It was pristine with no odors. Placing the bumper under the fitted sheet is as simple as it sounds. It fits exactly on the the length of the mattress, which is a standard size crib mattress, and we have been using standard size crib sheets (though I believe the manufacturer does recommend deep sheets, we have had no fit issues using the standard sheets we had on hand). The quality of the bumper is excellent, being firm enough to prevent my toddler from accidentally rolling out of the bed; while also being soft enough that she can comfortably climb over it to get out of the bed on her own when she wakes. The bumper is tall enough that I can’t imagine a small child being able to accidentally roll over it at all. The bumpy strips on top and bottom have done a Fantastic job of keeping the bumper in place on the mattress, and the sheet secure on top, with no slippage. Me and my partner been mostly co sleeping with my daughter, her crib doesn’t slide down so it was never easy for me to put her in without waking her up, especially because I’m short. After she turned one, we decided it’s time to try to get her to sleep in her crib. We took off the barrier since she started walking and hoped she wouldn’t fall off knowing she moves around a lot when she sleeps. Her mattress is really low to the floor but we put pillows on the floor next to it just in case. Our bed is right next to it so I can see her from my side of the bed when I’m laying facing her crib. Call it mom instinct or whatever, but I got lucky and woke up from hearing her movements and caught her right before she fell over. That happened 2 nights in a row. And then she’ll wake up crying. The 3rd night, she fell off on the pillows on the floor, woke up crying. Just put her to sleep next to us everytime after waking up because it’s easier. I didn’t know this bed cushion was a thing. I was really looking for a thick long cushion to put on the floor next to her crib and found this. I only got it because there were so many good reviews. Last night was the first time she’s slept through the whole night after a few nights of trying to put her to bed with the cushion. She has waken up crying but not from falling off. So it works, she hasn’t fallen off and it doesn’t budge even if she bumps into it from moving. I’m not able to get it under the fitted sheets but it doesn’t bother me, I just put a blanket over it. I’m glad I bought this, now I can sleep peacefully without worrying and also without getting punched or kicked in the face by my daughter in the middle of the night from her moving so much in her sleep. ... show more

We wanted something for that would create a barrier for our sofa bed when the granddaughter visits. She's 2 and typically sleeps in a toddler bed. We wanted something that would prevent a fall when sleeping. This was perfect; approximately 5" high when fully expanded! They are soft, simple to add to the bed before putting on the sheet, and definitely helped. Right out of the box they expanded very quickly. They seem so much better than those folding 'screens'. When she leaves, we just put them in a closet for next time. If she's awake and wants to crawl out, of course she can, but we're monitoring. This was mostly for naps and evening sleeping to prevent an accidental fall. And buy the pack of two if both sides are exposed; totally worth it! Delivery was exactly as promised. It’s long and fairly high, don’t worry it will puff up fine. We have stretchy sheets and put it under the fitted sheets and it doesn’t budge. Gets the job done - no way our toddler can roll out of his bed with this. Might be tight for kids who need bumpers on both sides of the bed, but is perfect for a day bed with just one bumper needed. ... show more

Got grandkids? Getting to big for the pack and play? Afraid they will roll out of your guest bed with the crazy thick mattress? This is your Answer!!!! But... get very deep pocket sheets. Measure your mattress thickness then get a few inches deeper in a sheet. Amazon has these deep pocket sheets. Worked perfectly and grand kids were more comfortable than in the pack and play. I was able to sleep knowing they could not roll out. This is not for babies. For kids that know they can scoot to end of bed and slowly crawl out. It can be nerve racking when your "baby" is ready for a toddler bed and you don't know what the safest option is for them or what they will be comfortable with! We got the Hiccapop sleep bumper and are so thankful for it. It inflated fast, was easy to assemble and our daughter loves it. The grip on the bottom sticks to the bed really well and has not moved at all since installing it, which gives me peace of mind knowing that she is not going to roll out of bed. Got this for my grand daughter who sleeps over occasionally. I was blown away by the quality and how well it works to keep her safe from rolling off the bed. This is a great solution rather than a metal bed rail. It's soft and easy to put under the bed sheets. It says firmly in place and doesn't move. Peace of mind.
