Description

1/8 X 1/2 X 4-1/2" P3S 5% Cobalt Parallel Cut-Off Blade (2000-7025) Superior type of high speed steel which works better in high heat applications. Use this type of blade for heavy cuts in hard materials. Parallel style blades have continuous width of cutting edge throughout length of blade. Can be used with Aloris, DORIAN & KDK type quick-change tool holders. Chip breaker groove ground along the top length of the blade. One beveled end, one square end.

I bought one of these a while back and it has been performing very well. It did need a little touch up on the cutting edge, but that is to be expected since people use different set ups. I use this in a BXA 250-207 holder so the angle it pretty close to what I need. When set up right this blade cuts through steel like butter. I have used it on Aluminum, Mild Steel, 12L14, and a couple types of Stainless. I am buying a new one because I made a mistake while parting. I was using tail support on a part with a large hang out (planning on removing when I got close to finished) and screwed up when I went to remove the tail support resulting in a broken blade. I was able to fix the blade (which is shorter now) by grinding it again but I wanted to have the full length. ... show more

The narrow profile of this parting tool greatly reduces the amount of power needed to cut through material at a reasonable rate. This is particularly important with mini lathes (8" x 16" for example) that have a limited amount of available torque Of course it cuts through aluminum with ease, as can be seen in the photo. But it also carves its way through 304 stainless without much strain, leaving nice "clock springs" of metal coming off the work piece. I have a harbor freight mini lathe and I installed a OXA tool post on it. All the bits I have bought work great in it except for this. It sets too high. So therefore won’t cut into the material. So I gotta fit out what too do. Ow. Maybe a smaller has cutting tool. Can’t give a rating on using it cause I haven’t been able to. ... show more

I had to re-sharpen the cutter, The angle was off just enough so that it would not cut center line, works great now on aluminum bar stock, HHIP 2000-7035 1/8 x 11/16 x 5 Inch 8% Cobalt P3 Parallel Type Cut-Off Blade, I have not had a chance to try on Steel as of yet, When I do I will come back and edit review. 02-18-2021 > OK been using for over a year now, Has proven to work great on any thing I have had to part, I have made several brass bushings and steel spacers, I use plenty of lube and have not had to re-sharpen so far well worth the price. ... show more

I am new to machining and this is my first use of a parting tool. I was warned to wait until I "got my feet wet" before attempting parting. Plus, I was told to "stay away from the cheap tools until you break a few high dollar ones". Well, I got my feet wet, but jumped into the lower cost unit right off. I am VERY HAPPY with the decision. Like anything else, setup is the key to parting. BUT...if you set up correctly, and watch your feed/speed, this tool is AWESOME! Immediately, it looked like I knew what I was doing. No chatter, and the tool did not try to walk up or down the material. I should shay that I use a Precision Matthews, 1440BV lathe, which I also love. Definitely worth the money! ... show more

This is easily the best cut off tool I've used. It was easy to get straight in the holder so the clearance angles worked perfectly. The chips didn't jam up at all. I used a start stop technique to break the chips and it cut mild steel like butter with the resulting surface looking nearly faced off. Good enough for many projects. ... show more
