  • Value for Price Can't be Beat
I have waited to submit this review until I assembled and had a chance to ride this motorcycle. I am an experienced rider who currently has six other bikes ranging from a couple of Harley Sportsters to a BMW and even two Korean Hyosungs, so I know what I'm talking about. First and most importantly, the new 223 cc counter-balanced engine is a HUGE, GIANT and ENORMOUS improvement over the old 229 cc engine. This 223 single runs so much smoother it almost feels like a twin. The old 229 had a tendency to rattle things like speedometers, ignition switches and tail lights apart with it's buzzy vibration. I believe I won't have that problem with this improved motor. The plastics and appearance have also been improved over bikes produced just a few years ago. I had no trouble with initial start-up. The bike fired on the first crank of the starter. You'll also find the 17-tooth front sprocket will make highway travel much better. With this gearing you can cruise comfortably at 50 or 55 miles per hour. The bike will go faster, but I have yet to top it out. The tires are also much more suited to most dual-purpose riding with a 70/30 street/off-road tread. This tread design is much better and SAFER on streets, but will still enable you to conquer most trails and forest service roads without trouble. Due to US Federal emissions laws the carburetor is very weak and non-adjustable. I would recommend spending $30 or so on an upgraded PZ30 carburetor. They are available on Amazon and easy to replace. The 108 main jet in the one I bought seems to work satisfactorily. I would also recommend a digital speedometer. Be aware that those available for the regular Hawk work nicely, but are wired totally different from the Hawk-X. You will have to re-pin the connectors (not difficult) and run a wire from the ignition box to your new gauge cluster for the tachometer. If you choose to go with a digital speedometer, I would also recommend that you install a hub mounted sensor rather than using the two little magnets and sensor that come with most digital speedos. Most don't even come with a bracket to mount the sensor and the little magnets are doomed to fall off as it appears to me. A NOTE OF CAUTION...if you are unfamiliar with motorcycle mechanics, you could possibly cause yourself frustration by purchasing and attempting to assemble one of these bikes. YOU WILL MOST PROBABLY BE THE MECHANIC as a high percentage of motorcycle shops will not touch Chinese bikes. If you are able to work on your own bike, buy one. If you don't know how to work on your own bike, be friends with someone who does. The assembly video is quite well done and was easy for me to follow, but maybe not for most neophytes and beginners. Bottom line, this is a great value on a motorcycle. If you buy a 250 cc bike from one of the major brands, you'll spend about $7000. Yes, you'll be getting a bit more power, but not enough in my opinion, to justify the extra $5200 or so that you'll spend over this Hawk-X. I am confident that it will meet or exceed my needs for this type of bike, but remember again, YOU will be the mechanic. ... show more

  • Good learner bike!
I have a thousands miles ridden on it 11/14/24 a few things break and are easily repairable. Nice little bike to get you to and fro, and also affordable! I'm happy with mine so far! Just waiting on papers since 8/3/24, hopefully the finance company has them.

  • The hawk250x is really nice
The hawk250x is really nice, I put it together in a few hours and road it around soft for the first 50 miles. It's very tall and so my feet just reach the ground, I'm 5'10". it's a smoth ride, good enough power for a 250cc. looks pretty and started right up, you have to throttle it for the first minute to keep it from stalling, but after that it idles nice. I only got it up to 55mph so far cause I haven't put it on the street legal until last night. so 55 in the woods is fast for me. Like it alot and the price was great. I would have given 5 stars but it came a little banged up, seat frame was bent (I was able to have a friend with a press bend it back) and some of the mounting brackets on the plastic parts were broken. All that I fixed with some epoxy. Now it looks great and runs great. I called the company that shipped it but got nowhere with any compansation for the extra work and money I had to spend. But Oh well I'm sure I'll bang it up anyway in a few months in the mud and trails. ! ... show more
