  • Sturdy, easily transportable, and worth the money.
Style: Saxophone Stand
This baritone sax stand was a gift for someone who plays in a community band. I wanted something sturdy to protect the instrument. Since the band plays in a variety of venues, some a long way from home, it needed to be easy to carry. Some stands come apart; this one folds up, so everything stays together. It is made from steel, so it has no plastic parts to break or crack. It is a little more money, but it makes no sense to spend thousands on an instrument and then go cheap on a stand that tips over or breaks. One repair bill will pay for the price difference multiple times. This model has an option to get a peg to hold another instrument as well. ... show more

  • Solid stand adjust for seated playing
Style: Saxophone Stand
Years ago I had a Hamilton bari stand with casters that had all sorts of adjustments to hold my sax for seated playing. Unfortunately the single bell ring mount put enough stress on the horn that the bell brace kept breaking loose from the horn (ca. 1952 Buescher Aristocrat low Bb), requiring it be resoldered each time. The Hercules stand has a conventional two-place holding system (top of bell and down by the bow) which cradles the horn - very solid and the weight is well distributed. The bell "U" cradle is tight allowing the horn to be turned slightly to the left and, with a slight offset of the neck, puts the horn in a good playing position. Height and distance between upper and lower cradles is adjustable allowing for low Bb or low A horns. It's not tall enough for stand-up playing so you'll still need a strap for that. Also, like the other Hercules sax stands, it doesn't fit in the bell when collapsed so you'll need an carrying extra bag. It has a hole for flute/clarinet peg and is also available with an optional 2nd stand for tenor/alto sax as model AJS1515. A great stand, especially for the price. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Seems to be a good stand
Style: Saxophone Stand
I've had this stand for a couple of months, now. This seems to be a good stand, and I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. The stand feels well built and sturdy. I don't have a fear that it may tip over easily and I have ordered an alto/tenor Hercules that should be here next week. I guess that's a pretty good endorsement. It may replace my Hamilton, which I've used for many, many years, and I plan on writing a review for the alto/tenor stand after using it for a couple of months. I have found only two negatives with it, and they are fairly minor. The part that the bottom of the bell rests against moves every time you pack up the stand so that you have to re-position it the next time you set it up. The other thing is that the spring pins that you push in to release the various folding parts are sometimes a bit stiff and you need to really push on them to get them to release. I'll provide my own counterpoint: Let me say, though, that having the spring pins so stiff is probably better in the long run, as you don't have to worry about those parts becoming lose over time. The bottom rest changing positions is a very small annoyance and I could probably place a mark there to remember where to set it. The fact that it moves does make it easier to pack the stand flat. ... show more

  • Extremely well made item
Style: Saxophone Stand
This stand is very sturdy and a quality item and is a good value. One thing that is not obvious from the description is that their are only two height adjustments, the sliding square rod has a hole at the top and the bottom and you have those two choices with the locking lever. The rest, on the other hand, is fully adjustable and will lock in any position. I am sure the designers made it this way to guarantee that the height adjustment will not slide under any weight. If I had to pick another nit, the foam that holds the bell has a gap in it, unlike the foam on the rest. These are all minor points, however. This is a very secure and heavy stand and I am very impressed. ... show more

  • Fantastic!
Style: Saxophone Stand
Fantastic stand. Holds the bari securely and strong. No fear of it tipping over or falling out at all. The little support piece at the bottom is even adjustable to fit any bari. Joints we're a little stiff when I first started using it but after a couple day of use they have loosened up making opening and closing the stand much easier. I swear you could throw this stand with the instrument across the room and it would still hold it. (I wouldn't actually do that though) Great stand! ... show more
