  • Hella, affordable and brighter than LED.
Style: 500FF (Kit)
Until I get some back woods photos, this one will have to do. It's bright as hell compared to my low beams and high beams. However, I'm up in arms about the Hella Off road Incandescent lights still providing better overall coverage. Installed on a 2015 Crosstrek. First photo shows, low beams with four Hella O/R Lights. Second photo shows, Auxbeam Spot Lights. Installation wasn't too complicated at all, a lot of customization went into mounting them to an SSD Front Rally Light Bar and running them inline with a switchboard. Took about 15 minutes to mount the lights down and run wires to a previously installed switchboard. I will say, the Hella 500FF's are a great addition to the car. It has an extremely wide spread, photos don't do it justice, they're the brightest Hella produces as an entry level offroad light. I wanted to go with the Black Magic series, but I'm glad I didn't. The BM series have the least amount of light output of the entry level offroad lights. I can opt for the black covers since they're on sale on Amazon as well, since that was mainly the selling point apart from the practicality of the bright 500FF's. If I needed more, which I don't, I'd buy Hella again! The drawback was the wiring kit and switch that it came with. Definitely not capable of running four lights on one kit of wires. The instructions were pretty much jargon, the switch wasn't that appealing. Understandable though, the wiring kit can work, as long as you can figure out the diagram they provide! ... show more

  • look elsewhere for quality
Style: 500FF (Kit)
unfortunately they aren't made as good as the old ones. i bought the 500FF in january and right off the bat the lights didn't quite fit well in the outer plastic housing. they say Made in India. i have these installed on my 2001 4runner on a bull bar and hit a pothole yesterday and the housing that holds the light in place snapped where it mounts to the bar. neither lights are torqued high either. very disappointed l as i could've bought the lower priced and brighter LED lights that everyone else has but i wanted the Hella brand quality...looks like that's no more though. the light is now being held together with Gorilla tape and Scotch tape until i can find something else. ... show more

  • Junk!
Style: 500 BLACK MAGIC (Kit)
So I bought these to replace the old, original driving lights on my 2000 Wrangler. When I went to mount the first one, the T-nut which holds the mount to the bumper completely snapped in two, and it wasn't even tight yet. Other quality issues are, the entire light housing is plastic, so when you tighten the light to the mounting bracket, the light is crooked. I expected better quality from Hella, I was wrong! Now I have to try to figure out how to mount these or send them back. I would not recommend these to anyone. ... show more

  • Nice, a good value, along with style.
Style: 500 AMBER (Single)
These are what i wanted for replacing the OEM fog lights i lost when replacing my factory bumper with a ARB Bull Bar bumper. Per reviews, these should work well bridging the gap between fog and driving lights. They do come with the round white full covers, along with the mounting brackets. They also did come with the blue Hella emblem on the lens. The wires are about 6 inches long, and these were made in India. Being 55 watt lights, they should be good for the road in traffic, and bad weather. The plastic backing seems like it will be okay, but use caution when mounting, will always a good thing. Just don't tighten them down hard, until you have them aligned where you want them to point, Update 3/19/2017: I find that by using these lights, i can use my low-beams with them together, and see as far as my Hi-beams alone, and not be flashed by on coming cars when they approach. (insert-smiley face) These lights along with the bridging harness, will allow them to plug into the factory harness on my 2003 Chevy 2500HD/Silverado. These are a great value for what you get. A true YELLOW glass lens that looks great on either modern, or vintage cars. Having a plastic back shell, might not be all that bad for those who live in extreme weather. The idea of not having them rust within a season or 2 can be a good attribute. UPDATE: 06/19/2013 Number3.... Wow, i purchased these over a 2 year's ago, and i'm back to page 74 on the review pages. It seems people either love them or are less than happy. Either way purchasers have their opinions, and have no qualms letting others know. At this time i have had no water intrusion issues, or anything else related to exposure to the elements. Over rough corrugated back roads, the lights have stayed tight, and the housings show no degradation to them from vibration. They have also not overloaded my OEM fog-light switch(fuse) As i mentioned before, The yellow lens version seems to be less intrusive than the white lens version to oncoming drivers. This could also be that drivers are becoming more desensitized because of the growing use of bright OEM factory LED vehicle lights. ... show more

  • Hella quality, good value but with two issues
Style: 500FF (Kit)
I have purchased and used Hella lights on my last two Jeeps. These driving lights are clear and bright but with 55w bulbs don't draw a huge amount of power. The lights are well made but also don't weigh a lot. The white plastic covers included with this kit are sturdy, fit tight and in our state(PA) are required for driving lights to be legal on the road. Follow up: I did write this review before totally completing the installation process. I discovered that the switch supplied with the kit was defective so I had to use one from the auto parts store. Also, while aiming one of the lights I didn't have the base loose enough I guess, the mount cracked off the light. I have since contacted Hella (five days ago) and have not received a response. ... show more

  • The Hella's at work
Style: 500FF (Kit)
The media could not be loaded. I put 4 of the Hella 500FF on my 2005 f-150 King Ranch. These lights were easy to install and work great. In the video you can see the factory f-150 head lights and the hella's. hope this shows how much they can help.
