  • Good value for the price...
I'm giving these a 5 star because they are a great value for the price. But if these were the expensive programmed type that cost $1600 at Costco, I'd give them a maybe 2 stars.Cheap hearing aids leave a lot to be desired, but they have an important place for the hard of hearing who can't afford $1600 for even the 'cheap' Costco ones. I look at them like my Dollar Store reading glasses...I always keep several pair on hand, because I always lose them.Pros:If you put the rubber earpiece on as far as it will go, and remember to turn down the volume before putting them on, the aids don't whistle.Sturdy and they don't look at all like cheap pieces of junk, like the $57 (for one hearing aid) Britzgo I bought. They amplify sound well and have a variable volume control all the way from nothing to LOUD.They aren't huge and they are pretty unobtrusive. There are different size earbuds for different size ear canals. They are pretty comfortable (but do take a bit getting used to, build up a bit at a time until you can wear them all day). It’s easy to learn how to put them in, just needs a bit of practice at first.Cons:They are still bigger than my old Costco aids. (But I bet this would make them easier to handle for people with tremors)While they amplify sound well, they amplify ALL sound. I can hear all the background sounds just fine, but I still have problems hearing voices, because these can’t be programmed to match the sound frequency I need to have amplified.I don’t know where the decibel cut of is for the ‘noise reduction’ feature is…when someone yells, or the phone rings in my ear, it sure seems awful loud! The description of the aids say, ‘…unique noise reduction feature and digital circuitry and control which means you have total control over what you hear and what you don’t.’ This is kind of misleading because you only have control over how quiet or how loud the sound is, there is no ‘total’ control, not when we can’t filter out high or low sounds.Other items:I hope the price on these don’t go up too much more, I bought mine for $15.99 and a week or two later they are almost $20 (which is still an excellent price, especially for 2 of them). I assume I got them at an introductory price. By the way, I bought two sets of them, right off the bat, even though there weren’t any reviews yet, but I figured they couldn’t be any worse than the stupid Britzgo I bought and I was tired of going ‘huh?’ all the time.I don’t know anything about the battery life yet, I haven’t worn them long enough. EDIT 3/29/18: The battery life is pretty bad, I can get maybe a day and a half out of them. The battery just kind of runs out and I have to turn up the volume until I need to change out the battery. I'm still giving these a 5 star though, because over all, they are still a good deal for the price.Overall: I can hear a lot better with these aids than without them. They’re not perfect, but they sure are great for the price. Buy a few pairs of them, if you lose things like I do. ... show more

  • Not perfect but okay and useful...
This sound amplifier is okay and useful. I can confirm that there is a higher than normal background noise like other users are complaining about. My elderly father uses it on the lowest setting in order to reduce the background noise. It helps him with normal conversations and with listening to the television set. He was frustrated with using his expensive hearing aid which would keep losing its batteries and would also last for like 1-2 hours. This device has a great battery life and last a pretty long time (almost a full day). No batteries to buy and its easy to recharge. This device has a lot of potential and is priced right. It just needs some minor refinements and testing.I purchased two of these devices through Amazon.com since it was safer to shop through. I heard of a lot of complaints from people purchasing the item direct through MSA30x.com's website. Service and delivery through Amazon was quick and no-hassle.Again, this device might help some people with minor hearing loss but if you need a louder device, this device might not be for you because of the enhanced background noise is not filtered well when you increase the volume. When you turn up the volume, you get more background noise or static. It basically drowns out the noise you want to hear when amplified too much. Overall, its a cost affordable device and might help those with minor hearing loss but its not perfect. ... show more
