My older dog had some serious stomach issues, I switched her to this dog food and at the same time switched my young dog to this dog food. Her stomach issues cleared up and she’s doing very well. Both dogs like it and it’s the only dog food I found that’s made in USA but also completely sourced in USA. So many dog foods are made in the USA but when you read the small print it will say ingredients are “various” sources which, although it’s clever marketing, it’s ambiguous. I have chihuahua who take picky to a new level. I’ve had some who were “real” dogs and ate anything that looked interesting. Not these two. About 10 years ago one developed a severe issue from which he almost died. I learned more about dog nutrition than anyone wants to know. But he lived well for another several years. Basically I learned to make their food. We’ve tried all the ones available that are “fresh”- they’ll starve first- thank you. Canned food can become a petrified lump. Wetting dry food can guarantee it will be ignored or shoved out onto the floor where it turns into cement on the floor. Ok, back to cooking. I’m single, love to cook but it’s no fun for one. Not wild about “tv dinners”- well, maybe 1 or 2. Now I’ve gotten lots of nutritional help from their vets but still you always wonder if they’re getting everything they need. So, the suggestion was their home cooked food with the dry on the side. I found this brand about 3 years ago and rotate through all available flavors. That chi who almost died?? They think he developed an allergy to his food. The one he got every day. That was the first suggestion, to change up ingredients as long as they seemed to tolerate their food. This review is actually about all the available flavors. I order the small bags and mix them together. Mine get a meat, 1-2 vegetables, a starch- they like potatoes and the different dried type beans. They might eat the broccoli first since it generally has a little cheese. But they’re going for the kibble between broccoli bites. Then the meat. Almost every meal is a bite of meat, a piece of kibble, back to the meat, etc. I’ve seen them leave part of the steak (nice steak, not shoe leather) and munch on the kibble. Then go clean off their plate a bit later. They turn up their noses at dog vitamins so I end up passing those along to someone with a real dog. If I sprinkle vitamins on their food they won’t eat the food. I called the company to ask questions and spoke with a really nice lady willing to answer all my questions. My kids had their annual health visit in November and got very positive reviews. Very healthy, thick shiny coat, clear skin, active and alert. My only complaint is the size packaging. Since mine go through 1-1.5lbs per month and I mix the flavors, the larger bags don’t work for me. I’m hoping they’re able to offer in between sizing at some point. In the meantime I’ll continue to rotate through and mix together the different flavors. Opening the bags the kibble always looks and smells nice. I’ve never had a moth spontaneously erupt from this brand like I’ve had from other brands in the past. My vet feels they’re getting adequate nutrition at this time. My chi’s are 10 and 11.5 and very healthy. ... show more

My Shiba Inu, like most dogs, has a chicken allergy. He is a VERY picky eater, yet has loved this kibble for six years now. He doesn't seem to get sick of it?! It may be a little on the pricier side, but Health Extension has lots of added vitamins like Omegas, which my dog definitely benefits from. I was surprised to receive the new packaging of this product, which is now just called "grain free" and no longer Allergix. I wish there would have been some sort of notice posted that my product would not necessarily be in the same packaging as pictured. After much research on my own, I was able to figure this out, definitely with NO help from Amazon. My 8 year old pitty has been eating this food since I rescued her at 1 years old. Her coat is sooo shiny and soft, people constantly ask me what I am feeding her. I alternate from the salmon, to Buffalo, to duck and usually give her a few spoons of the wet food on top, or fresh chicken that I boil for her. I have my granddog. My son is in the Air Force and couldn't take their dog. He can only have grain free dog food and treats. He gets tomato red if he has something with grains . I came across this dog food and liked the ingredients. Much healthier and better for him. Since he's been eating this his skin is so much better. I definitely would recommend this! ... show more
