I recently dumped my outrageously expensive cable TV and went with one of the major streaming services using a Roku device. In our treadmill room we have a very old analog, CRT TV that has only COAX or RCA inputs. It still works great, has built in DVD and VCR for the old stuff and it made no sense to get rid of it. This converter is exactly what we needed to connect between the Roku and the TV. Works very well. To clear up any confusion because there is a photo with a power source and it is advertised as "everything you need" it does NOT come with a power source. I had a couple of AC to USB power adapters lying around. One had two USB outlets so I was able to connect both the HDMI to RCA converter and my Roku to that single power source taking up only one outlet. Highly recommend this device. If you're like me and you love awesome old tvs but you're tired of them being incredibly good looking pieces of ancient tech with absolutely no function other than being stylish as heck...then this converter is for you. I wanted cable on an old TV I have in my livingroom. I was worried this converter wouldn't be adequate for my needs or that I'd need some other dumb part or that it would take me forever to figure out how to get it to work. Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. Incredibly easy installation. All I needed to do was hook it up and attach it to a power source and lo and behold, cable TV! Obviously it's an old TV and not HD so this product can't do anything to change picture quality. Easy to install, USB wire is short, needed to add extension cord. Picture quality was good but a bit snowy, and audio slightly out of sync, but it is better than I expected.

I purchase this item to connect a PC laptop with HDMI port to a digital projector that had only RGB and composite video. The projected image did not look as sharp as when the projector is connected to a DVD player with composite video (yellow port) or computer through the RGB input. A second concern is that the box which is powered by the USB got very hot to the touch in a very short period of time. All things considered the HDMI to RCA Converter does allow me to connect a more up to date computer to a somewhat out of date projector. ... show more

I have a newer Blu-Ray player with only HDMI output and an older TV with only RCA input. To connect them, I first tried an HDMI to RCA cable with no converter; this setup did not work. I then tried this cable with the converter, and it has been working just fine for about six weeks. I received it promptly. Connected it. It provided a decent picture, not HD but OK. The unit got a little warm but nothing to cause concern. I was very pleased. I told everyone how I saved my old plasma. A few days later I turned on my TV and there was no signal. The unit was cold. I double checked all connections but no picture. I assumed it was no longer functioning. It was worth a try. Disappointed. I had hoped to buy a little more time. I read the reviews and felt it was worth a try. Most reviews were good. After my 10-year old Vizio lost Wifi and HDMI functionality, I decided to try and extend its useful life by using its available ports (antenna, RCA and RGB). After returning my first HDMI-RCA purchase, I made sure this one had "HD cable box" in the description. It produces a quality picture, not as crisp as HDMI, but good enough for a bedroom TV. If I get a few more years of use out of this TV, I'll consider the cable costs money well spent.
