I'm 60 and and this ladder is perfect for me! I have a 9' floor to ceiling shelving unit and needed something stable to reach the top shelves. The hand rails and top grip bar make me feel very secure, unlike a regular ladder. I gave only 4 stars for 3 reasons. 1st, I really don't think it's built for a heavy person. At 120 lbs, if I lean forward on my toes while on the steps, I feel/see the rod that supports the front of the steps bow out ever so slightly but not enough to make me feel insecure. However, looking online, most of the ladders made this way have the same rod so I may be overthinking. Second, 20 lbs is a little heavy but I'm sure it needs to be to support the weight of a person. And I figure at some point in my future, if it gets to be too heave to carry, then I'm too old to be going up on a ladder!! Third, it's very easy to assemble but the system for attaching the hand rails is lacking. No matter how tight I make the screws, they still move slightly left and right on the bar they attach to, and I feel like I will need to keep the Allen's wrench handy for future tightening. ... show more

I'm a big man, and it seems steady enough. There were a few problem though. 1. Missing one bolt in the hardware package, which really didn't matter because... 2. It's really too narrow for a big man, so I left the left handrail off. 3. It's too tall and high to fit under the bed. 4. It doesn't have "500" printed on the bottem step, I suppose I could fix that with a stencil and some spray paint. 5. The nubbins on the steps are really sharp, so I can't use barefooted. I suppose I can fix this with some sandpaper. If I saw it in a store, I probably would not have bought it. ... show more

Was not easy getting screws lined up with holders. Took 2 of us to line it up and hold together to align. Took an hour of readjusting to finally get everything in place. I gave everything a 1 star in hopes it will not be as difficult to fold up after a few uses. I also wish handrails folded in as they stop ladder from being tucked behind door or slimmer places for non use times ... show more

This is a great step ladder. Very sturdy. I have bad knees and the nice, wide steps are very accommodating. I like how it snaps into place so I know the steps are secure. Hand rails are a good option to have, too. Would definitely recommend purchasing this handy step ladder!

Ladder is sturdy and hand rails make me more stable when climbing up and down. However we had difficulty trying to line up a couu Ii ole of bolts and nuts. Had to go to hardware store and get longer bolts.

The ladder was bought because my wife has an illness that makes her balance suspect. Upon receipt the assembly was okay except for putting on the two handles - which for our purchase was the most important from a safety perspective. The screws supplied are too short and do not hold - the absolutely suck and are dangerous. For a temporary fix, so we could use the ladder I had to use tie wraps:(. I went to ACE Hardware with the horrible screw and replaced with a bolt and locking nut (see all three attached pictures). After replacing the supplied/dangerous screw the ladder is sound and safe. I will also take the other similar screws, one at a time, to ACE Hardware to find a reliable replacement. The ladder concept is outstanding, the platform at the top to place work materials and the equipment holder are excellent. This is an ideal ladder for in-house work. HOWEVER, replace the screws with real bolts/self locking nuts to ensure the stability of the ladder. ... show more

When you have 10' ceilings, it's hard to reach items in cabinets and closets. Hanging pictures or other work requiring tools is easier with the included pouch. The step ladder opens and closes without any locking mechanism as in my other step ladders. Handles are very nice but take into account they also stick out when you store the unit. I'm not sure if it was my unit or all of them but the left handrail was not drilled correctly to match up with the stepladder for the screws (off by more than 1/16th of an inch) which almost forced me to return the unit. Instructions were severely lacking as many steps were left out so it's almost trial and error during parts of the installation. ... show more
