I am very happy with this "big game" reel. It is made for salt or freshwater, but since I live in MN, this will be my go to musky/pike reel. It is large, with ample line capacity. The bearings are smooth and on my 7'2 rod, feels real nice on the water. I have caught some decent bass with this reel so far, and it made easy work on 2 lb fish. But I know if I get into a large pike, this puppy will handle the challenge with ease. The drag is smooth and easy to set in the heat of the action, and it casts smooth with 20 lb braided line. No backlash as noted. I don't normally get backlash on spinning reels, just bait casters. But it does cast nice for what it's worth. Reeling in fish with this thing is a snap, and it with the bearings, easy to set drag, and large line capacity, you can fish all day without issue. The ONLY downside, from a freshwater perspective is it is probably overkill for most of my fishing needs. However, I do fish rivers and other bodies of water with large fish, so I look forward to putting this baby to the test. For the price, you absolutely cannot beat it. My old Daiwa cost 3 times what this costs, and handles about the same. So you can feel confident it will hold up over the years. But I guess time will tell!     • Great Rotary Vise at a good price point

I have never used a rotary vice before. You see them at all different prices, so I decided to pick one that was middle of the road and I have other items from this company that I have been pleased with. It came in a great case and the foam inserts are a bonus. All parts seem to be great quality and it all fits together well. To me, the big test is how well do the jaws fit and hold a variety of hooks. This performed well and holds hooks firmly. I could work on a #20 dry fly hook with no problem. I also like the recessed area in the base. It keeps things in place, especially if you’re using beads for nymphs. It is different that what I’m used to, but it will be fantastic for wooly buggers and similar flies. I’m looking forward to learning all the rotary techniques. Overall, I’m impressed. ... show more
