  • Very pretty, great price, slightly complicated to install
Size: 5.06-Pounds Color: Satin Nickel
This is a really pretty light fixture at a super reasonable price. It throws off a ton of light, too. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because the assembly/installation process is a bit more complicated than it needs to be. When assembling it, there are rods and spacers and things without adequate instructions for how to install them. I figured it out, but even still, there's a long rod that goes through the fixture, and there are no markings that indicate how far down on that rod you need to install the stoppers that go behind the glass globe, so that the finial on the bottom of the glass globe fits snugly with no gaps. It's total trial and error. The first time I guessed at the distance, it didn't leave enough threads below the glass for the finial to sit tightly. I disassembled back to that point to fix it, but overshot my estimate and left too many threads showing. Finally, like Goldilocks, the third time I got it right. The annoying part is that this whole experience happened with my arms overhead while standing on a ladder. You can't really pre-assemble the globe and easily install the fixture. If I had to do a bunch of them, I would probably figure out the rough distance while on the ground, and mark it with a Sharpie or something. But it would have helped if they pre-marked the rod themselves, or even manufactured it with a stopper already in place. Oh well. Still totally worth buying the light fixture. ... show more

  • Beautiful Pendant
Size: 3.3-Pounds Color: Oil-rubbed Bronze
This pendent is almost identical to one I purchased quite a few years ago. We're selling our home, I don't want to leave it and I needed something to replace mine. I was happy to find this because of its similarity to what I have. Because there are 3 rods that come with this pendant, you choose how long or how short you want it to be. Each rod is 12 inches long, excluding the male thread that is on 2 of the rod ends. 2 rods are what I call male on 1 end, female on the other end. The other rod is female on each end. If you only want it 12 inches, you'd use the female rod only. You can't cut the rod any shorter because of the threading of each end. The shades diameter at the widest, the bottom, is 9 1/2 inches. The pendent that this replaces has been in 3 homes, in our first home it was above my washer/dryer, then it was near my stove, and finally upstairs in the hallway. This Dover pendant throws great light, just as mine does. I suppose if it's the only light in your kitchen, then yes, it wouldn't be the best. Hang 1 or 2 over your island as secondary lighting, and hey, plenty of light IMHO. We also started with a 60 watt bulb and it was way too bright. Shown is the pendant in the hallway with one 12 inch rod. You also can't go wrong with the price, plus free shipping! ... show more

  • Nice visual design, poor QC, actual design, and instructions
Size: 5.06-Pounds Color: Oil-rubbed Bronze
This lamp definitely looks great for the price. However, it looks like a few posters have issues with the quality. Mine has this issue as well. The glass has a crack in it. There is a slip in the packaging that mentions that if you receive a broken glass unit, to call the manufacturer and they will send a replacement free of charge. This is NOT TRUE FOR THIS ITEM. I called and they said they do not have a replacement part and I'll have to return it to my resaler. This was fulfilled by Amazon and sold by Cabinet Hardware 4 Less. However, after spending 2 hours putting this thing together, I think I'll live with the small crack. The other issue I have is that the light bulbs are right up against the glass, so they're highly visible when turned on. CFL bulbs will be touching the glass and the spirals in the CFL bulb are clearly visible (and ugly). Final issue I have is that the instructions do not match this model of light. The company only prints one set of instructions for all their models and it has instructions for 3 types of models. This light matches to none of the models so you'll have to figure out how to install it yourself, using hints from the instructions for 2 of the models that are kind of close to this one. Also, the instructions for the electrical part of installing a ceiling light are of no use at all, so I just used Google/Youtube, some latex gloves, and a safety incantation, hoping that those would protect me from getting electrocuted. And it worked! Anyways, my advice is this: if the glass is cracked or paint is chipped, send the product back right away using Amazon, before you spend the 2 hours trying to install the lamp. Calling the phone number in the packaging will do you no good for this model. And be prepared to use your logic skills to figure out the proper way to install the lamp and have your phone/laptop ready to learn about ceiling lamp wiring. Once you've dealt with all this, the lamp actually looks pretty nice for $50. Hopefully I'll never have to find out how compliant it is with earthquake / storm safety standards. ... show more

  • nice looking, well made
Size: 5.06-Pounds Color: Satin Nickel
For the price; nice looking, well made, sturdy. Similar style at local home improvement store was $79.00. Only complaint is that the assembly and installation instructions are so lacking it is as though there are none. I am very mechanically inclined and took but a few minutes to assemble and install. For those not having applicable skills it may be a slight challenge to properly assemble and install. ... show more

  • Elegant, sturdy, real metal and real glass - Beautiful
Size: 9.24-Pounds Color: Satin Nickel
Beautiful fixture, sturdily made with real metal! Not the cheap plastic stuff. So, that is a big plus. Does not come with light bulbs, but they are easy to find in any store. Regular size. You will need 4 of them. The 'cups' are real glass. Elegantly designed; opaque, with some marbling details. Now, the size of these cups were a bit bigger than I had envisioned. They measure: 4.25 inches (height); 7.25 inches (diameter - across). Maybe my perception of size is because I am using it for a small dining room, with low ceiling, and we have a very old one now, that has smaller cups. It is probably just me not being used to the change, yet. Nonetheless, this is a very elegant, classy, fixture! It will make your room look like a million bucks, instantly! Price is also great. Compare to others, similar look, they go up to $200 bucks. So, cannot go wrong here. I would recommend it. ... show more
