I have read a lot of the reviews on this product and most describe it as not being very sharp and having the need to sharpen them. The ones I received were sharp I didn’t need to sharpen them and they perform very well especially taking the price into consideration . The media could not be loaded. So I am no machinist or even precision craftsman, but I do respect and know good tools. Now I know I did not spend a ton of money on this product, but for the love, how long would it have taken them to actually finish these things with at least a grit above 60, Leather cutting is best when the surface finishes are polished, so as usual I had to go back and do all fo the finishing work myself. This is not evident in the pictures they show. At any rate I brought them up to a 400 grit finish by hand, then a quick polishing on the wheel. As well I had to re-hone the edges as they are jagged like a rasp file was used?? I wish I had gotten some before footage of these things because they would not even cut, now they are like razor blades. Cheap steel also was used, I tried hardening one and it would not in Quenching oil or water. ... show more

I can't claim to know enough about leather tools to say these are the best. I can only say that they do what I want, and do it well. My father was a genius leather worker, who made some of the best ranch saddles in the world. His saddles continue to be in use all over, by the only kind of folk who can tell a difference: those who are in the saddle all day, every day. I always loved looking at all the tools in his shop, and these look just like some of those. I can only assume that they are well made, like his. ... show more
