This is a very well made vent, heavy guage steel, nicely formed. Mine has a mesh screen with fairly large openings, so lint may not be much of an issue, but I will keep an eye on it to be safe. I'll update this review if I find that it gets build-up on it. The flapper inside even has a thin gasket to help seal it when closed. The square gasket that goes on the housing is kind of a pain to stretch onto it, but it has a groove in the gasket so once on, it holds well enough that it'll stay until installed tight to the wall. I haven't installed it yet, because I'm going to put in a low clearance duct in and get rid of the flex duct. Other reviewers have said the vent is undersized, and that the clips may hold a duct ok, it probably won't seal. I'll use foam tape around the outside end of the vent neck to seal it, shouldn't be an issue. One other drawback is that the neck is swaged inward (reverse flare, if you will), making the already slightly undersized opening smaller yet. I assume it's to make placing a duct onto it easier, but it could have been a lot less severe and still done the job, without restricting airflow unnecessarily. This dryer vent cover looks quite sharp when installed, compared to the Heartland Natural Energy Saving Dryer Vent Closure I replaced. Screws seem to also be stainless (non-magnetic, and a darker shade of metal than aluminum). It is a nice pressure fit inside of uncrimped 4" dryer duct. New open wire grate should prevent large animals, but lint accumulation could prop it open enough for a mouse to intrude. Gasket is a little fiddly to position, but works well enough. This vent will require you to remove the 4 mounting screws to insert a cleaning brush to clean out the lines, where my previous vent did not. Having said that, the old vent died due to UV exposure / plastic degradation + impacts after a decade, I expect this vent should give as much if not more service. ... show more

Not much to say here. This is a middle of the road option for a dryer exhaust. Better than some I’ve used, worse than others. I relocated a dryer and used this to put an exhaust on a different wall. My dryer only has to go about 1 foot now to vent now to the outside. I was able to install it in the wall quickly and easily. I sealed around it with caulk to make sure no air or moisture came in from outside. On the inside, it connected to my flex hose easily. The cover closes nicely and the grate should allow lint that snuck by the filter to escape while keeping critters out. This is in line with about a $20 product at most so don’t pay a premium for this if there are more affordable options out there. ... show more

Ordered this Handua 4" Neck Stainless Steel Square Exhaust Air Dryer Vent Cover as a replacement for the old plastic one I have that is attached to some rotting out siding. The price of this item is relatively high but compared to the plastic ones it is indeed much higher quality. Well made with a thin gauge of steel, it comes with a rubber seal that fits to the lip all the way around and a probably 1/2 inch mesh grate, that may allow bugs through but wont be small enough to clog up with lint. The one way door works effectively. I have yet to mount it so am not sure if it can be painted, but I wont be. Hard to tell how items like this will hold up over time but based on a first impression I think the construction is much more solid than any others I have seen. Happy I ordered it. ... show more

Let me start out saying that while this driver vent is more expensive than others I've seen in the big box stores, it's also much heavier duty. I'm not using it for my dryer. I'm using it as an exhaust vent for my laser engraver in my shop. I currently am venting out of a window through a piece of board with a vent on it. The problem is during inclement weather, we get rain and moisture inside the shop through the window. I'm going to use this to go directly through the wall with an extension coming out of the back of it to reach the interior wall. ... show more
