  • Great for in-wall installs
I love these ducts, but not for the reason they were made. I install them INSIDE walls. If you’ve ever tried to route a 4” flex duct through a 3.5” stud cavity, you know what I mean. There is a surprising lack of metal in-wall products to get drier vent gases neatly out of the house. With this setup, you can line the duct up with the center of your drier during the install, and then have a minimal length flex duct behind the drier to connect the two once it’s sheet-rocked in. And the other end is ready to connect to a 4” pipe to the outside vent. ... show more

  • Does the Job
This is exactly what I needed for my laundry room. The closet doors could not close because the 4 inch vent needs about 8 inch or more clearance to turn. With this, I could lean the dryer flush with the wall and connect the hose to it and exhaust out. It allows me to save some space and finally be able to close the door in front of the washer/dryer units. It is thin and delicate but once you install it you will never touch it again. It does not come with duct tape so you will have to purchase that yourself. Make sure you test for air leaks, and tape well. ... show more

  • Does What It Needs To But Cheaply Made...Be Prepared To Buy Other Supplies.
I have essentially a closet where my washer/dryer fit in my home with bifold doors in front of them. While I made the effort to purchase the narrowest standard dryer possible, when I went to connect the exhaust vent, I still ran into problems with depth. A standard 4" vent hose needs about 7"-8" to actually make the turn up and out, and that would not work if I wanted to close my doors, which I do. This product was recommended to me by someone at the hardware store. It is in fact, MUCH slimmer than a traditional hose (Approx 3" when installed) and allows for me to push my dryer back into the area so I can close the door properly. However, be prepared to purchase some other items when you buy this product to get it to work. Firstly, the construction is pretty cheap. It is made of VERY thin sheet metal such that it can crush if handled too roughly. It has an adjustable sleeve that you can move up or down to get the Vent Out to a height that is above the top of your dryer so you can connect a traditional vent. The cuts & folds of the unit are cheap such that there are A LOT gaps and the air flowing through the vent will escape making the rooms surrounding your dryer very hot. I had to take aluminum ducting tape (not to be confused with duct tape) and basically re-wrap the whole unit to cover and seal all the gaps so hot air doesn't escape. I would also recommend picking up some vent clamps with this as well. You will need one to secure the base of the unit to the Dryer Out (which was a PAIN to get tight enough to the point where it would not fall out) and also you will need one to connect to the traditional 4" Vent at the top. Overall, the product does what it needs to but for almost $35 I would have expected something sturdier and better made. ... show more

  • Can be difficult to keep in place without using metal tape
We needed a fix for our new dryer that isn’t able to be set up for a side bent like our last one. This did the trick. It’s a bit more rigid then standard round flexible hosing but it was easy to cut it down to the size we needed. It was difficult to keep it attached to the back of the dryer and it took some time and careful effort to seal up the openings on it using metal tape and also sealing it to the back of the dryer with the same metal tape. Lots of patience and cursing was involved to make it happen. Once it was successfully installed it has worked great! ... show more

  • Necessary for some applications
Praise to Amazon because I could not find this product at the local home improvement stores. I could find the type that make an S-shape, but limit the length to about 4', but not this type with the transition back to 4" duct. This is perfect for my application: not the typical application in that I want to put the dryer closer to the wall, but rather I want to get hard vent ducting behind some drainage pipes in my basement. I previously had a section of slightly compressed flex ducting there that I wanted to get rid of because flex ducting is never the best and always develops holes over time. It loses a star because of the loose tolerances where the three pieces connect to each other. I used rivets and proper air-tight foil tape to keep it all together well. ... show more
