  • Not bad. Knockoff Retro.
It syas it has 500 games on it. The menu pops up with about 10 games per page that you scroll thru with the buttons. It's a bit clunky. The control buttons are not all that great, but they work. I just wonder, by the feel of them, how long they will work. The first thing you have to do when you turn it on is answer English or Chinese. That's your first step in figuring out buttons and how to navigate. You scroll with the round button, but most of the time you have to click the select button down below and not the A or B button. Each game seems to have different ways they are controlled so you have to spend some time trying to figure out which is which. As seen in one of my photos there is a volume wheel on the lower left side. On the top is a power slide, a charging port which is also the game controller port (Micro-USB, not Type C) and a mini-plug video out port. I haven't noticed any issues with the battery life. Seems to be real good. You can connect the game up to a TV from the mini video out port which uses a provided RGB adapter cable. Neat idea, but the cord is really too short to do much with. The game controller cord is kind of short also. The other issue is that even though you have the game controller plugged in, you still need to use the main game pad to do some navigating around to pick a game. So my kids will use this as a handheld game exclusively, simply because of it being too inconvenient to go thru the TV. In my opinion, the actual older handheld game consoles are built better than this one. There are also some other retro game consoles out there like this one, but this one feels on the more budgeted side compared to others. It's a budget little system. The games we tried worked for us fine, but it took a while to figure the controls out and sometimes we didn't get the best reaction when we tried to hit the buttons. Oh yeah, there is a reset button right below the center of the screen. I had to use it a few times as I couldn't figure out how to get back to the list of games. Well, that button takes you all the way back to the English and Chinese decision point at the very beginning. We'll have it on display in our little retro game collection and it will get used, but it probably won't be the first pick of our group. ... show more

  • Solid offering for the price point.
QUICK TAKE: So the retro gaming community is blowing up right now. With so many options out there for retro gaming, there's a lot of devices out there ranging from the very inexpensive (this one!) versus much higher end offerings. This little handheld is a bit clunky, but fits in the hand easily and is honestly a lot better than what I was expecting for a Sub $20 gaming device. The device says there are 500 games, but it's probably closer to 400 or so with a lot of duplicates and some games work better than others. You'll have to scroll through multiple screens to get to the different games (10 games per screen) and this can be tedious at first. The included controller feels inexpensive in the hand, but serves the purpose of allowing you to control the game. All in all this is a fun little gift for younger kids, or the AVID retro gamer looking for some nostalgia at a very approachable price point. THE GOOD STUFF: - Overall works decently with most of the games - Very approachable price point - Built OK for a Sub $20 device (but don't expect too much). - Lots of games in the mix THE NOT SO GOOD STUFF: - Not really 500 games (some are duplicates) - Not a very strong build quality (you get what you pay for). - Controller is on the small side so it may not be ideal if you have large hands - User interface is a bit clunky scrolling to games ... show more

  • Nostalgic!
This little device reminded me of the game boys we use to play. I got it for my son so he can experience some of the games I grew up playing. It has tons of games, my favorites like Dr. Mario and Mario world. It can with a controller and input output cords so you can play it on the TV.

  • Fun....for what it is
There are quite a few duplicate games as well as some that are unplayable, but it's decent fun if you are into retro games. There are still a ton of options when it comes to games, so for that, it's hard not to recommend for just that reason. I got this for my son so we'd have some entertainment for him on long car rides or airplane trips. Unfortunately, he has gotten pretty bored with it already as the gameplay is pretty mediocre. In many cases, games on our phones are more entertaining for him. For the cost though, it's a decent option if we can just find a game or two that he'll enjoy. These do seem to be bootleg or knock-off games so that contributes to the fact that the gameplay isn't great. Overall though, a decent value and worth a shot if you are looking for retro games. ... show more

  • Cutting some slack because of the price
...but at this point you have to know something like this won't be as viable as the plethora of other handheld options out there. It's limited, and not made as well as it could be. Outdated video connectivity. If you're interested in a proper handheld for retro gaming and the like, do a little bit of research. Anbernic, Retroid, even PowKiddy is a proper solution now. If you want a toy to immediately fiddle with with low expectations, grab this. I got it simply for the "welp, this is what we're playing on, viewers" and it served that purpose. ... show more

  • Charming little console
These are some funny bootleg games. Some are authentic enough - like Super Mario World. I did notice Contra and other classics that were true enough to the original as well. There are some questionable games like "Super Mario 14" which you'll have to look up to even understand. All in all it's a good value. You get tons of classic titles on an easy to use platform that is even TV compatible AND rechargeable. The backlit screen is perfect for low lighting. You'll enjoy NOT buying tons of batteries to continue enjoying this platform as well. It's a quirky console, but it's fun and offers a great value. Even buying an old (regular Nintendo) NES console with Super Mario is less affordable. You get a bunch of classics on here! You may even like some of the bootleg games that made their way here, like an 8 bit Angry birds that is pretty hilarious and fun. ... show more
