Bought this to heat up a 300 gallon blow up hot tub that I bought off marketplace with a broken heater. I filled up the tub with the hose and the water was roughly 60 degrees. Not thinking this little guy would actually get the water that hot that fast I set it to120 in the morning and left for work. When I got home from work 8 hours later it was 120 degrees. So WAY too hot to get in. Luckily it was cold out so I turned on the bubbles and let it run without the heater in it for a couple of hours. It took a bit but it eventually cooled down enough for us to enjoy it. So if using it for that be careful and set it for the temp you actually want. I haven’t tried it but I 100% believe this thing could boil water in 55 gallon drum in a couple of hours or in a 5 gal bucket in less than an hour.. ... show more

    • This heater will shock the crap out of you - Don't Buy.

***THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE RECALLED*** PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS IMERSION WATER HEATER*** Be warned if you do, do not touch the water in any way when you have this heater plugged in and imersed in the water. Both my husband any I received rather large and strong shocks when we touched the water. I don't think this unit is properly grounded and not suitable to be used as advertised. It is sold and marketed to be used in the water but makes the water unsafe to touch. I don't see how it is being sold as is and should be removed from Amazon before someone seriously gets hurt or dies from an electric shock. I returned this unit promptly for a full refund. We did have another imersion heater before purchasing this one that worked as intended and did not shock you when you touched the water. It just didn't last very long so we bought this as a replacement thinking it worked the same - It did not. For reference we purchased it to use in a hottub, 500 gallon size, and it did not heat the water to more than 84° after 3 days even though the attached thermostat was set to 105 and it was reading a tempature of 107. When we check the other thermometer we have in the tub it was reading 85°. This is when I regrettably touched the water to feel how warm it actually was. Very, very Bad mistake- the shock I received was very intense and traveled up my arm and throughout the right side of my body and I felt it for hours afterwards into the next day. The husband had to test it himself, even after my warning, and felt the same himself - go figure! Anyway I hope Amazon takes this warning seriously and pulls this product from their store. Of the millions of these as there are you'd think SOMEONE would design something that doesn't risk electric shock. It works well enough. Water gets hot relatively fast. Cord is crazy short. You cant plug it into an extension cord. You cant test the water just hope for the best. And the thermostat that isn't attached to it doesn't work very well. But my entire point of getting it is to heat water and that it does quite well and fast enough. Could use a dozen tweeks to make it perfect. 4 stars as it serves its purpose even if its inconvenient. ... show more

I take HOT baths and the new place that I moved into does not have a super hot water. I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to invest in a new hot water heater shortly, but in the meantime, I’ve been literally putting water in a tea kettle to make my bath like scalding hot like I like it I put this guy in my bath it was full. I let it run for 10 minutes and I stepped into a super hot bath and I was shocked actually because I didn’t think it was doing anything because the thermometer read the same temperature no matter what but I think the thermometer is actually broken because that is definitely hotter than when I started it. ... show more

    • Doesn't Last Very Long

We bought 3..had to return 1 due to defect. Works great when they work but the 1st one lasted about a month of daily use after the sensor went out. Second one is going out after about 2 1/2 weeks. Will be going with a different company especially after seeing the price double from when we bought.

I’ve had five of these heaters and they’ve all failed. They work great initially but all of mine have quit heating. The last one seemed defective from the start. I actually like this heater as it has a thermostat and heats great for a week or two. I haven’t found another brand that is better, though, so may keep using as long as they’ll replace it when it quits. ... show more

I dye clothes that are the wrong color, and got tired of boiling water on the stove to add to the dye bath. This is fantastic! It keeps the water at a perfect 140, the cord is thick and safe, has on/off switch, easy to clean, programmable thermostat. I LOVE IT!
