If you're thinking of giving someone this bowl as a gift, the box may not make a good presentation judging from the condition of the box I received. The bowl was shipped in the thin product box, not a shipper, and I'm surprised it made it to my house without being broken. The only protection the bowl has inside the box is that it's inside a very thin plastic bag (which is just a way of saying it has just about zero protection). Although the bowl arrived in perfect condition, the box was all beat up as you can see in my photos. But as for the bowl itself, I love it! If you're wondering as I was whether the dots on the bowl are open the answer is no, they're solid, but you can see trough them. Details say that it's plastic, but this bowl isn't my idea of typical plastic. There's nothing cheap about it. It seems to have an extremely thin layer over the plastic that feels like glass. The bowl is quite lightweight. The colors are true to the product photo. I prefer putting the bowl where the inside can be seen along with the outside (see my photo of it sitting on my toaster oven where it's hard to see any of the inside except through the transparent "dimples"). I suspect the bowl is delicate and I doubt I'll use it for anything other just enjoying looking at it. UPDATE: I found much smaller versions of this bowl selling in pairs and couldn't resist them. first saw these bowls in the moma store and was happy to be able get the unavailable blue and orange one here. i assumed i'd be tempted to buy the bowl in more colors after receiving it, but instead i'm considering returning it. pros: the bowl is beautiful and bright and bigger than i expected. (i actually would have preferred the medium size bowl, but they don't seem to be available in the states, only this very large one and the very small ones sold as sets.) cons: the bowl is lightweight plastic, and seems decidedly overpriced considering the material; the guzzini box was absolutely trashed inside the undamaged shipping box, so though these are being sold at full price they may be rejects that couldn't be sold due to their damaged packaging; and in the sun (which is when these bowls really shine because light passes through the "windows") i can see what look like vertical lines/scratches/flaws embedded within the plastic running down every row from top to bottom (see photo). the lines are so pervasive i have to assume they're a result of the manufacturing process, but i wonder if they're a result of manufacturing *error*, and thus evidence of defect, or if they are to be found in every le murrine bowl of every size and color and source and are normal/to be expected. (would love to know if others see these same lines in their bowls when they're in direct light.) anyway the imperfections really annoy me when i can see them, but since i can't see them all the time i'll have to decide whether they bug me enough to return the bowl taking into account its price and other aspects. ... show more

I thought I was getting a ceramic piece for the price. We were unimpressed after opening the box. The bowl was light and plastic and bit on the smaller side. Both my wife and I laughed a bit, but we liked it more and more as we looked at it. It's an attractive piece and gives us the pop of color we were looking for in our dining room. After several trips to Italy somehow I accidentally missed the Guzzini love hug. Then I stumbled upon this orange and blue bowl on Amazon and WOWZA - it's now in my home (pictured). Love these colorful bowls - they are perfect for salads, gift giving, and my favorite - simply enjoying the light radiating from them in from our curio cabinet. I got 3 bowls and here is my review: Bowl #1 (Blue/White/Orange): The bowl and box (a stylish box) arrived in a pristine condition, well-packed in a larger cardboard shipping box. It is a visually impactful, lovely bowl. I was very happy with the purchase and decided to order two more as gifts. Bowl #2 (Mauve/White/Lilac): The box arrived partially torn and the bowl had irregularity (like a chip, please see the attached photos) even though it came in a larger shipping box. Had to return it. This may be both Seller issue and warehouse issue. Bowl #3 (Blue/White/Orange): The box and bowl came without a shipping box! The warehouse slapped shipping labels directly on the box (ruining it). It came all torn and dented. The bowl inside was fine. I decided to keep the bowl and use the pristine box from my #1 purchase for a gift-giving. This is a Warehouse issue, I believe. I still would like to order 3 or 4 more for myself and as gifts in different colors, but the inconsistency of quality (chipping) and shipping (damage to a stylish box a bowl comes in) are discouraging me to go ahead right now. It seems like other customers have had great experiences, so you may be fine. The two bowls I got (Blue/White/Orage) are truly gorgeous and fun to have. ... show more
