We love camping and have always used our no-longer-good-enough-for-the kitchen pots and pans. This year we decided to get some "real" camping cookware, and this set is just right. We do take a griddle that fits over both burners of the propane stove, but for the non-griddle cooking, this set is just right for us - large pot, small pot, and small (yes, quite small) fry pan. The pot handles clip on (and off) easily, but they're metal so they do heat up some. I guess that's why only one handle is included, so you'll move it from pot to pot and not burn your hand. I bought an extra handle, and just remember to use a hot pad. The lids have a little orange "tab" on top to serve as a handle. My first impression was that this was a poor excuse for a handle, but it actually works really well - it's easy to grip and does its job well. The cutting board has curved edges (like a plate) and is pretty small, so not terribly useful. The whole set comes in a mesh bag with a drawstring. The bag is such a snug fit that using it is more bother than it's worth. Overall a great purchase, we're very pleased. ... show more

    • I liked it so much I had to buy another after my first GSI cook set was stolen.

I owned a GSI base camper cook set for quite a few years and did a lot of camping with it. The set held up very well. Unfortunately, my previous cook set was stolen. I liked it so much I decided there was no reason to be disappointed by buying some other brand. Another GSI cook was my choice. I'm pleased to see GSI made some improvements in their newer product. I have used this set for a few years and am crazy about it - we liked it so much that we got 4 sets for our use with new boy scout patrol kitchens. Just be sure to use non-metal utensils so you don't scratch the non-stick coating, and don't use them over a non-regulated fire (think campfire vs. cooking flame on a stove) ... show more

Been using this set for a couple months now in my camper. Nesting feature important for limited space. Have been careful to use silicone utensils only because I am suspicious could get scratched up otherwise. Wish it came with two handles so did not have to switch back and forth while cooking with more than one pot. Seems to heat pretty evenly - and quickly! I always have to keep my gas burner on low otherwise I think would burn quickly. Overall I think a good buy for the price. ... show more

Wouldn't trade them at all! Great cooking items. Fast heating. Nothing stuck to them (bacon, eggs, potatoes, bacon wrapped jalapeno peppers, etc). Easy to clean nest together perfectly. Also, when nested, there's room for silverware and plates. Awesome camping utensils!!

I already had the Base Camp set but also wanted a smaller set, mostly for a smaller pot. This is perfect. I use both sets in my RV with limited space. When both sets are nested (separately) they take up very little space. They are easy to use and easy to clean. The mini cutting boards are next to useless for me in the RV but they do make great spacers to keep the pots & pans from rubbing off the Teflon finish. These are a great addition for those RVer's looking to save some space and weight. I wish I would have had these back in my backpacking days. ... show more

Just received these pans and they are what I expected and more. The lids have a very nice seal to them. They are sturdy pans but light as you would expect. Amazon did put the large description with the Medium cook set though so be aware of that prior to ordering. the large set has the 5l and 3l pan. Cant wait to take these out and give them a try. Very compact. all fit nested together in the 5l pot. UPDATE: have had several chances to use these pans. they are great. heat up evenly and quickly. i let them cool completely prior to washing and have not had any trouble with getting food off. I use silicone utensils with and have not had any problems with scratching. love this set. by no means is it small and compact for hiking/ camping. this is for base camp use. meaning you take your family and park your vehicle and set your tent up right there. the lids have vents in them for draining excess liquids. the fold up/ removable handle is a great addition to an already perfect set. ... show more
