  • Perfect
I put the brick in a tub and added a little more than a half gallon of water waited around 15 minutes and it is perfect. The size was a good amount after hydrating. Added it to my potting mix with some worm castings and vermiculite and my plants love me ❤️ I only ordered 1 to check out the quality and will definitely be ordering from this seller again. ... show more

  • Makes a lot when hydrated and easy to work with
We were setting up a hydroponic garden from scratch and this was perfect. The little brick was supper heavy and made so much when hydrated. We had a lot that was extra. Well worth the money.

  • Good quality and great for gardening if you understand what it is
This coco coir brick from GrowByCoco is very good quality and will work well as a soil amendment or seed starter. I've been growing pepper semi-hydroponically for 2 seasons now, and they yield abundantly. Coco coir is reusable, and each season I need to add a bit more. I also make a seed starting mix using coco coir and vermiculite and have good success so far. If you need a larger quantity, it's better to buy in bulk because single bricks like these can become too costly. For gardening, understand that even though it's much more sustainable than peat and is sold as a replacement, it is not the same as peat. Peat has organic material and therefore it provides nutrients. Coco coir is completely inorganic - meaning that it has no nutrients. As a seed starter, that's not a problem because seeds have all the nutrients they need for the first growth stage. As soon as a seedling has at least two "true leaves" you will need to fertilize. Coco coir is great for starting seeds because it's relatively clean and therefore, disease-free. In my semi-hydroponic pepper bed, I have to fertilize regularly or the plants would die for lack of nutrients. Coco coir is great for aeration and moisture retention and I love using it. I mix it into my raised bed soil for its benefits. And I'm very happy with this brand for small batches of seed starter. ... show more

  • out of the box review
I just started using this coco peat. It comes in a tight brick. I added water to the brick, and kept adding until saturated and the brock broke apart. I am not sure it expanded 7 times, it looks like much less than their figure. I added it to my soilless mix to add lightness and absorbency. I do like what I have observed in terms of weight and water saturation. I will have to report back as to any observed performance changes. ... show more

  • One if it’s large
I’ve been wanting to try these bricks. Size wise, they are a lot easier to store than a bag of the similar fill. This makes about two gallons, 8 quarts, after it is reconstituted. That’s a small bag of potting mix. It has a nice consistency and I will be using some to start some seeds for an indoor garden. Some will be used to make an African violet mix. You do need to have a decent size bucket or tote to hold the coir as you reconstitute it. I will say that I like how this works, and the fact that it doesn’t take up a lot of storage space until you need it. I wouldn’t mind keeping a bit on hand. But, 2 gallons isn’t much for my total annual needs. That makes it too expensive to consider for exclusive use. It would more than double my cost for putting spills over the already expensive costs. I will probably pick up more at some point. But I doubt it will become a major part of my soil budget. If you needed just a little, it would be a great way to go. ... show more

  • Coco Peat
I was a bit annoyed no instructions were included. I figured out that you needed to add water. Overall, this was a cool product. It is more expensive than other peats, but it is super compressed and kinda fun to use.
